“Behr Masah” is the latest ship to be commissioned in the formidable fleet of the Pakistan Navy. The official commissioning ceremony was held on Monday at Karachi.

Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi said that with the induction of “Behr Masah” into the naval fleet, naval research and sailing capacity of Pakistan Navy has reached unprecedented levels.

“Behr Masah” is a survey ship developed by China’s Dajin Shipyard. The newly inducted survey and research ship will be central in boosting the operational capabilities of the Pakistan Navy.

As per the official naval sources, “Behr Masah” is armed with state of the art contemporary survey and research equipment.

Soon, “Behr Masah” will play its part in searching the untapped natural reserves within the country’s maritime boundaries.

Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi appreciated the staff of Dajin Shipyard for delivering a quality product on time. “Behr Masah” is a manifestation of the deep-rooted relations of China and Pakistan.

Admiral Abbasi said that Pakistan is now able to assist its military allies in the field of hydrography.

its good to see i have visited old one BEHR PAIMA and it was really need to be retired .

When we properly map the ocean floor in our region, besides other obvious advantages, it helps our sub force and anti sub forces when hiding from enemy surface combatants and when hunting for enemy subs respectively.

Mapping Magnetic anomalies also helps in sub hunting. These types of ships do that and a lot more.

I do not know why people with little understanding of Defence and military related issues comment on this forum. All navies have such vessels. India has over 4 of them. They are important to the navy in their movements, understanding the naval terrain around them. Predicting patterns and so on. They are even more important for submarines and submarine hunting.
If you think you can run the navy better, go enlist and reach the rank of Admiral, then you’ll have some capacity to speak.

This ship is not only for that, it’s very important to the navy, all navies have such ships, India has over 4 of them.
They help map the ocean and predict movement patterns for the navies, they are also useful for our submarines and especially in hunting enemy submarines. The rest is just a secondary role as the government cannot do it on its own sometimes.
We have one such ship already, Behr Paima, when it was inducted it was state of the art, but now it is very old and needed replacement. That’s where the new one comes in.
