CIA chief Petraeus resigns over extramarital affair

If Petraeus has a wife like that, he is bound to have an affair with someone. I m with Petraeus on this one.

That wife stayed with him for decades..... So people taunting his wife should consider how heart broker she might be right now....

Those people who are siding with Petraeus on this are being extremely illogical.
No dignity, no honor.

FBI agents search home of Petraeus lover: Reports

WASHINGTON - FBI agents searched the home of the woman at the centre of a sex scandal behind David Petraeus's decision to step down as head of the Central Intelligence Agency, US media said Monday.

"Nearly a dozen" agents carried boxes and took photographs inside Paula Broadwell's home in Charlotte, North Carolina, CBS television affiliate WFMY reported.

The Charlotte Observer newspaper said agents appeared to be searching both floors of the house.

The US spy chief's resignation on Friday came just three days after Obama was re-elected president following a heated campaign in which the CIA faced questions about its handling of a deadly attack on a US consulate in Libya.

Obama backs Allen over Petraeus sex scandal

ASHINGTON: President Barack Obama gave his backing to the commander of US forces in Afghanistan on Tuesday after the top general was dragged into the sex scandal that brought down CIA director David Petraeus.

General John Allen was placed under investigation after FBI agents probing email threats sent by Petraeus' mistress stumbled upon a vast trove of "flirtatious" messages Allen sent to another woman at the heart of the scandal.

According to a senior Pentagon official, Allen denies any sexual liaison with the woman, 37-year-old Tampa socialite Jill Kelley, but the "sheer volume" of correspondence could be found to amount to "conduct unbecoming an officer."

Due to face lawmakers this week for a hearing to confirm his promotion to the post of NATO's supreme commander in Europe, Allen will now return to Kabul and remain in charge in Afghanistan until the investigation is over.

Pretty damning...

if the affair took place before Gen. Petraeus was retired from Army, he would face a military court martial. No army takes these things lightly.

Gen. John Allen (overseeing US operations in Afghanistan) is now also being implicated in this affair business. He's also suspect.

At the end of the day, seems that in Arlington and Langley Virginia we have too many Generals being ordered around by their "Privates"!

Powerfull men atract women how many Generals of any nation have wives at home and girlfriends near the base?

Afterall it is thanks to General Joseph Hooker that we have the term today.

well at the end of the day, every man needs his ejaculation :police:

but infidelity? Such things are taken serious in military circles and intelligence circles.

ESPECIALLY intelligence circles. Textbook way to get yourself entrapped. FBI has been auditing his PC for 5 months now. How can he be a spy and not know he's being audited?

it's sad......in the eyes of many, Gen. Petraeus is/was a HIGHLY decorated soldier with a long and accomplished career.

all that because he wanted "All In" ? (pun intended)

This sums up the relations for now if nobody else is gonna make it to the surface that is

Actually, he would be better off if his affair is exposed when he is still in the Army, the worse you can get is Conduct unbecoming. Demob you to Lt Gen, relief of your post and garish pay, that's it.

Now, with the CIA thing looming, he is in hot water right now, the fact that he have an affair with a Journo only pour oil into the fire. CIA is probably one of those rare organisation to encourage you to dip into company ink. BEcause of the security clearence. CIA head + private affair is not looking good, CIA head + private venture with a journist is the final nail to his coffin....

You can assume he knew that every thing that happened on his computer was recorded some where, at least from what were told it was the emails between Jill Kelley and Paula Broadwell that stirred things up.

I believe it was wrongly attributed to this man though he was a party animal. It is due to the prostitutes in Manhattan in the early part of the 19th century(extensively shown in the movie - Gangs of New York)

As early as 1816 Corlaer's Hook was notorious for streetwalkers, "a resort for the lewd and abandoned of both sexes", and in 1821 its "streets abounding every night with preconcerted groups of thieves and prostitutes" were noted by the "Christian Herald"[13] In the course of the 19th century they came to be called hookers

Actually the Army look at Conduct Unbecoming very lightly, basically you swore in a public place you can get charge. Most conduct unbecoming involve fine or garish wages, some involve relief of command, even less involved in demotion (Althought it will certainly happen in General Peteraus case since he got 4 star becuase of his command....) and i think less than 5% will get kick out, you would have done something really wrong and you can't even get kick out if you did something criminal (Like assault and something like that)

That being said, Conduct unbecoming usually accompany other charge the other charge may get you kicked out but conduct unbecoming seldomly would
