Chinese penetration in South Asia now beyond India’s control

India should avoid becoming in respect to China, what Pakistan became with respect to India. Becoming a trade partner of China, and a healthy competition between India and China, will be in India's benefit.

Pakistan‘s economy did better job than India for the past decades. It is just dragged behind by the anti-terro war.
Comparing with another neighbour, Sri Lanka's GDP per capita is about 2 times as large as India's. Incredible?

We admire the Sri Lankan population. Job well done. Talking of GDP per capita, why is it that India's per capita GDP is greater than that of Pakistan given that it is just in the last decade that this anti terror war started? When was the last time when Pakistan's GDP per capita was greater than India ?

In South Asia, India's GDP per capita is only significantly higher than Bangaladesh. But that's because the Indian invade and robbed the country in the past.

Does it matter with per capita?

Even Qatar has more than twice of the income per capita than US.

BTW, Japan's 2011 per capita will only be 8 times to that of China.

I was replying because Few people were talking on those criteria.

China and India both are growing very well. China economic reform started a decade before India so the difference. Our GDP is getting double in every 5 years. We are 10 years behind. We agree on that. I don't think anyone has any doubt on that. We are not comparing with U.S. but at same time comparing with many south Asian is also absurd.

India per capita is better than most of the countries in South Asia except SL, Maldives I suppose.

But On your east side, China GDP is worst.

Japan 10 times bigger than China.
S.K. 7 times bigger than China.
Taiwan, Philippines, Singapore are also 20 years ahead than China.

I think, Only Vietnam is behind China. No Idea about N.K.

Comparing yourself with a country that produces 10 times more steel, automobile and electricity is even more absurd.

That's exactly what the Vietnamese and Mangolians think of you. That you have better GDP coz you robbed their wealth.

You first decide which criteria. You changing criteria in every post. You started with Defence, then Per Capita and now Steel, Auto ? why not I.T., Consumer products.

There are 100's of criteria.

On West side, China GDP is worst.

Japan 10 times bigger than China.
S.K. 7 times bigger than China.

East coastal area of China have a GDP per capita of 10k USD. And Philippines is a country exporting home servants to our cities. The province with lowest GDP per capita is higher than that of india's. Even People in Tibet is richer than India.

I think 60% Chinese population living on west side (near coastal areas). So if 10k per capita then it means 600 Million Chinese per capita is only 1-2k USD.

Think before you post.

Quite opposite. Inner Mongolians are 3 times richer than their cousins in the other side of the border.

50% Chinese population living in coastal area. So if 10k per capita then it means 700 Million Chinese per capita is only 1,500 $.

Think before you post. :blah:

Not 50% but 100 or 200 million.

You are going on and on like a broken record about per capita as though it is the biggest measure and your fellow chinese poster (ChineseTiger1986) says GDP per capita does not matter in the Context of US and China as Qatar has better per capita to US. So between the two of you decide if it is important or not and I will tell you where we stand.

Anyway, China's nominal GDP is going to be around 7.5 trillion USD by this year, and soon becoming over 10 trillion USD by 2013.

And India still has a long way to go in order to compare itself with China.
