May be you are correct, thats why Chinese "Hummer" is here to stay
under mass production and the so-called "Original" version gone with the wind in result of production stopping.....:cheers:
China can have the Hummer, which is NOT the original AM General HMMWV. AM General created the 'Hummer' brand and sold the name to General Motors in the 1990s.

Try to keep up with the differences:

AM General != General Motors (GM)
HMMWV != Hummer

AM General is still producing the HMMWV. As already pointed out, the 'Hummer' is nothing more than a HMMWV-body mated to a 'civilian' SUV frame. So essentially, China is making a copy of a knock-off. But a very good copy nevertheless.

Isn't that what Chinese say about everything they copy?

America had its time when it was copying German models. Its time in the history when China is going through the same phase.

Additionally, its always better to build-upon something that has been tested and successful. When you do so, you are more likely to be successful. Its a good approach towards development.

You need to do more research. As Gambit pointed out AM general still produces the Military version of the Hummer. GM stopped all commercial production of the civilian H-1 years ago. The H-2 isn't even worth going into detail on since it wasn't even close to the same vehicle.

China needs this for disaster relief operations.
Also can carry portable missiles.

Well we are making progress. Getting Chinese to even admit "Guochanhua" is a major accomplishment. Now if we can just get them to admit the J-10 is based on the Lavi ;)

As long as it's far superior than the original, there's no shame in it being "copy". :)

Mengshi >> Hummer

J-10B >> Lavi

J-11B >> Su27

J-XX >> F-22 (to be continued...)
