Nope. Ridiculous to conflate the two. Livestock is consumed in massive numbers. Yes there are disease outbreaks but in comparison to the volume it is quite small. Also this can be regulated because rules and regulation can be used to control the process of raising and culling livestock.

On the other hand, consuming exotic wildlife has an exaggerated percentage of passing on strange diseases that were previously contained in wildlife. SARS was caused by the consumption of civets. Who knows where the Coronavirus is from but preliminary analysis is that it is from bats. So there is a good chance that the concentrated aggregation of strange wildlife that may have been sold in this market was the cause of this contagion.

Wildlife consumption should be banned, period. So should the consumption of most non-livestock meats. The Chinese govt. is good at banning all kinds of stuff but not something that makes so much sense?
