Chinese bricks failed vikramaditya

2.3 billion is not enough?

Anyway, there won't be a next time. INS Vikrant 2 and Vishal will ensure that this debacle never happens again. :P

India will have to pay more. Otherwise, Russian is keeping the ship. 2.3 B USD is a generous gift. I'm certain Russia would be very thankful. They will invite Indian navy and gov to the banquet that induct this ship into the Russian navy. During the banquet, India will be paying for the celebration and more when Russia says "We need another 5B for t-50, and MKI upgrade double in price." India has no choice but to fork over the money. As you can see, this will happen again repeatedly. And the corrupt Indian officials will fork
Over more just to swindle the kickbacks.

^^ Unfortunately, You may be right buddy.

But for rest of the deal, I think the knowledge and technology transfer will mean a lot just like the product itself. Even if Russians gave submarine on lease for close to a billion, they also provided consultancy for our domestic SSBN development. I don't find any money spent resulting in ToT as a bad deal. Remember that India is not good in reverse engineering or don't believe in it like China do, so this is the only way to get ToT.

We have to do whatever to reduce the gap.

no what is more important is russians realize it was their mistake of using chinese crap !!!!

That's not convincing argument for them to incur the repair cost because in any contractual agreement Russia can't unilaterally decide to use Chinese brick without India's consentement.

Hmm if you are improving bricks for centuries as per you saying then why Super POWDER China is not able to produce quality bricks... It seems your techniques are not right..or you need to do proper reverse engineering....
We are not superpower, only better than you!
We also test our AC, why this thing don't happend to it? Or, we leave the best for ourself, earn your money and give your junk?
And seems that, I heard that first Russia hope use Asbestos material, but you indian deny it, because it is harmful to human, it is good to protect your soldiers, but, don't be too ideal. If you don't know how to make AC, don't make any "advice", you just have experience that operating the second and small AC.
your ignorance make the delay, do not blame others, and, the cost will be paid for by your at last, do you think Russia will pay for it? Noway.

What was the total cost for converting varyag ???

I bielieve it's quite alot too even China didn't publicly annonced, at least all these moneys are spend for job creation and on chinese people's pocket...regardless corruption or any abuses such overpricing...the last these people want is get caught and be executed...cheating Chinese gorvernment is not an option.

This is the most useless thread I have ever seen, frankly speaking. Trolling and nothing else.

Whether its Indian, Chinese, Russian or American, all systems are bound to fail or succeed with equal probability.

Chinese made bricks failed, Russian made Mig 21s crash, American made F22's are never ready with all kinds of software issues and never pressed into action, American made DC-DC converters failed aboard the Chandrayaan and the mission lasted only half way through, although mission objectives were achieved 95% (either exclusively because of that failure or along with others) etc etc.,

So to blame Chinese made bricks is silly. To blame the Russians is silly. To call the Russians "shrewd" businessmen is again silly. Or to say Indians are idiots is again silly. What am trying to say is, **** happens. But, the Indian government should plan better.

The question now is not if, but how much. How much would you Indians pay for the repair? Is any amount too much? It's likely that a Russian sweetheart will bang this figure out of an Indian officer, and then triple the price. India would have the tough choice of giving in or lost the whole effort. Either way, it's a win win for Russia. And the loser is?

Either ay, it's a win win for Russia

Your outlook is too simplistic. Bilateral relations are not conducted by arm twisting the other. There will be negotiations and India will indeed pay more, but the Russians would also need to be careful, or risk losing further business. If they are intelligent enough, am sure they will understand that.

Probably will repair it with another batch of Chinese bricks

India has no other choice but t-50. So Russia has India by the cajones

India had the choice of F-35 buddy. It was discussed but not considered in future because of FGFA option and sanction proof critical weaponry like fifth gen. fighter.

That's what I'm thinking too since the "price" is playing some serious issues here. Neither side wants to pay a dime anymore.
Problem is India is loosing money, while Russia is loosing credibility. Even other countries will look at how Russian played this deal. They are indirectly hurting themselves. India has lot to learn for managing these type of crucial projects.
