What's new

China's new trimaran-hull frigate

Just as much as a continuation of F25T (i.e. pure speculation): it could also be an entirely new design. What is the information from the CSOC, or the analyst's report of the defence exposition where this was displayed?
No information available on that front. I regret not going to IDEX, quite a bit happened.

That's essentially why they're talking to Turkey for corvettes, a ship that is able to travel deep sea, affordable to operate, and can stay with us for a very long time.

Sir, from a logical point of view in today's technological environment, and the specific context of the Arabian sea, having a small flotilla of blue water vessels will be a liability. I see it as billions of dollars sitting in sea, inviting enemies to burn them up. We need to create entire battle groups, with the various tasks of anti-ship, anti-submarine, anti-aircraft, anti-missile defence distributed amongst the constituents. This is best achieved by starting with dual purpose 'littoral' vessels with small tonnage but the wherewithal to face blue sea conditions. I would stay with corvettes and lesser until we have enough ships that can act as escort to bigger frigates and destroyers while still leaving enough for littoral defence.

China's trimaran-hull frigate looks like a very promising design. It can travel as fast as the Azmat-class FAC at top speed (30+ knots), but it is armed with a 76 mm main gun, 8 anti-ship missiles, and 16 or 32-cell vertical launch system for surface-to-air missiles. I couldn't any information on the design's anti-sub warfare capabilities, though it should be possible. Displacement is 2,400 tons.

The PLAN ordered some of these, so it'll be entering production soon (and will offer prospective users an opportunity to see it in person).

PN has this good option to exercise.

PN is pretty much satisfied from earlier Zulfiqar Class Frigate.
There are chances PN will go for Chinese new Tech frigate and for FAC may be Turkish Tech can attract us.

This is what Azmat class design should have been for Pakistan Navy , agile fast / and lethal

This model is ideal for Pakistan just perfect has proper combination of fire power , and movability and size

Azmat class is a FAC or missile boat. THIS is a frigate!

Well Azmat class should have also been a frigate had they decided to increase the size up by 20 meters

Those ships are a still a wonderful achivement adding some much needed improvement so really not fair of me to criticize it , I actually like the ships nice compact units.

the only addition FAC azmat need was probably the RAM self defense
even that was taken out due to cost cutting measures!

2450 tons only plus 30 knots, Vls, and accommoDate 2 helicopters or looks like even a single sea king Class hello pretty good multi role capability for little over 2000 ton vessels but I am sure cost more and no backup propulsion are draw backs

I think the engine is not a problem, Russia is using the Chinese-(CHD622V20) engine.
