Sorry to your dismay. They refer to Aim-9X and the Chinese expert claim Aim-9X is crap compare to PL-10.don't think they are referring to Aim-9X blkII, more likely Aim-9L

It is WVR IR missile like ASRAAM, R-74, MICA-IR. While PL-15 is BVR missile similar to AIM-120-D, MICA-ER, Meteor etc.
both can be part of JFT package, and can be used as per mission requirements.

SD-10 will not be replaced as that's a different program and it will remain in service with more advance versions (B,C) with more range. PL-15 is the Sidewinder answer from China, with HOBS capability, faster speed and more range for shorter term air to air engagements. SD-10 family of missiles will more than likely get a range of close to 100 or more miles in the next coming years.

Pakistan should get hands on PL-10 and PL-15 for jf 17 block package. Better engine+Greater Composite material+AESA+IRST+PL-10+PL-15+HMD=Deadly combination for any indian fighter.

Now I get it.
It was expected that some would not take this revelation lightly. The US would not offer this AIM-9X BLK2 which are currently used by themselves to Taiwan if it was still out-performing the Chinese missile. Like the expert said in the program, the AIM-9 family were good AAM and had been proven in many battles in the past, but it has been outdated in keeping up to the new technological development, it has a huge gap with the PL-10.Sorry to your dismay. In a very recent incident, it even failed to shoot down a Syrian UAV by the Israeli Air Force.

Two Patriots, one air-to-air missile failed to shoot down Syrian-origin UAV
An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) had managed to penetrate 4km into Israeli airspace on Jul. 17 before returning back to Syria.

According to media reports, the Israeli air defense had tried but failed to bring down the intruder with two Patriot air defense missiles and a air-to-air missile fired from a fighter jet.
One of the Patriot missiles landed in a kibbutz in the north and a girl was lightly wounded as a result.
It will come to Pakistan if Pak requests it, as it is the standard AAM for J-31. I would not even be surprised to see it on the Thunder BLK3.
The Iris-t only has a 25km range and a mach 3. Not only it is almost a half of the cost, PL-10 can also be called medium-range AAM and has a much bigger warhead of 33klio.

First...You did not provide sufficient details on the incident. All weapons can and will fail to perform if certain conditions are not met or do not fall within certain range of parameters. Only those who have military experience understand this. You, we can safely assume, do not have that experience.
Second...Since this Chinese expert do not have that same information, and we can safely assume that he does not, how would he know for certain that what made the AIM-9 fail will not do the same for the PL-10 ? Because he is Chinese ? Or is this another case of 'Chinese physics' we are seeing here ?
Third...The fact that the AIM-9 does have a combat record should have been cautionary for anyone on making claims about his stuff that he cannot back up. That combat record includes environments and situations that may or may not be available to technically dissect.

The AIM is not outdated. It has constantly been upgraded. All that you point out with China's fifth gen stuff has been developed by the U.S. military many years ago.
And depends on why the Patriot system missed or the air to air missile missed since they previously worked.

Israel's military says Patriot missile shot down drone from Syria
Israel’s air force shot down an unmanned aerial vehicle that entered the nation's airspace over the Syrian border Sunday, Israeli military officials said.
According to an army statement, the drone crossed the border near Quneitra and was destroyed by a Patriot surface-to-air missile.
Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon praised the “vigilance and professionalism” of air-defense systems. "Recent weeks have proven we have little patience for attempted attacks on us. Anyone trying to test us will meet with a firm response," Yaalon told Israeli media.
The military said that despite “sensitivity to recent occurrences in the proximity of the border,” it would respond to any breach of Israeli sovereignty. “We will continue to act to maintain safety and security” of Israeli civilians, said army spokesman Lt. Col. Peter Lerner.
It was not immediately clear whether the airborne craft was intended to penetrate Israel or was related to fighting in the Golan Heights, where forces of the Syrian regime and numerous rebel groups are battling.
Maybe out-date is my wrong choice of word. What the man said was the AIM-9X is a good missile, but lags behind to the new PL-10 in terms of the range and the speed. Just consider this question: if it still has an edge against China, why will you give to Taiwan considering its secret may be leaked to China?
Well considering China's intelligence gathering aka hacking and spying and admission of their missile that has similar capabilities, would it really be a much a game changer selling something China would already knows to Taiwan?
Similar performance? You must be kidding. How come can the duplicate travel at mach 4 and reach 60km whereas the original can only go mach 2.5 and 18km?
The topic is PL-10 vs AIM-9X. The only reading maters here is to read both Chinese and English. The Vietnamese language is irrelevant here. I know you can read, but you can only read a half truth about this topic.
