Its true that my chinese is not that good. I can read better than writing. Also, if its traditional Chinese I'm at 98% competency. simpllified Chinese about 75%. The remainder I have to guess.

So how long have you been in America. I've been here for almost 30 years. If you have any doubt about my Mandarin skill, how many translator can tell that this word 杯具 sound like tragedy.


I do speak Taiwanese much better than my Mandarin. However, I do not keep up with what is going on in Taiwan. As I live here in the US and being a US citizen, I do have a lot more concern about what is going on here in this country. Having say that, I also wish for peace in Taiwan and China.

As for China, its is not an "average" country any more. It is a powerful country now growing more powerful and American has its eye on China. At least the military industrial complex has its eye on China. But China is not capable of challenging the US now. As for the topic of this forum, India and south Asia, its a different story. The way Indians compare China and Indian confirm to me why Chinese call Indians #3.

杯具 is a homonym of another chinese word,unless your IQ is only 5 point ,it wouldn't take you 2 sec to figure out the meaning,"taiwanese”,阿三 is not num 3,either

Also, Taiwanese is a very different language from Mandarin. If you only been there for two week, all you learned is jack squat.
