BTW, since CSSC has already spent a lot of money on the steam catapult, hopefully it could be used on the Type 001A. Otherwise, it would be a huge waste of money.

How idiot, to operate aircraft carriers in SCS while unable to protect them from attacks from submarines and airborne ...

The steam catapult was developed by CSSC, while the EMALS was developed by Professor Ma and his team.

Now CSSC has hired Professor Ma as their technological supervisor.

So in my opinion, CSSC should use the EMALS on their Type 002 carrier with the cooperation of Professor Ma and his team, while pass the steam catapult to CSIC for the construction of the Type 001A.

(VOVworld) – The Pracheachon Newspaper of the governing Cambodian People’s Party on January 6th published an editorial underlining the significance of the joint victory of Vietnam and Cambodia over the genocidal Khmer Rouge regime, which was declared on January 7th, 1979.

The piece said that 35 years ago, with the support of a Vietnamese volunteer army, the army of the Khmer United Front for National Salvation overthrew the regime, saving Cambodia from genocide.

It said that Cambodia is proud of its achievements and now plays an active role with equal status in the region and the world. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Samdec Hun Sen, the Cambodian Government gained a great triumph.

The article added that the victory of the Cambodian People’s Party in the 5th Parliamentary election last July allowed the party to continue its leadership for the next five years, showing that a majority of the Cambodian people still believe in the Party’s leadership.

The piece concluded by saying that Cambodian people from all walks of life and every generation will never forget the historical significance of January 7, 1979.

When the Khmer Republic fell to the Khmer Rouge in April 1975, Prince Sihanouk became the symbolic head of state of the new régime while Pol Pot held power. Sihanouk, whose desire was to be a retired country gentleman and perhaps 'a public relations man for [his] country and have [...] jazz parties and do some filming'[10] was to spend the next few years as a hostage of the Khmer Rouge. The next year, on 4 April 1976, the Khmer Rouge forced Sihanouk out of office again and into political retirement. The Vietnamese invasion of Cambodia in December 1978 ousted the Khmer Rouge. Hence, Sihanouk demanded Cambodia's seat in the UN be left vacant, since neither Pol Pot regime nor Heng Samrin represented the Khmer people.[11] Although claiming to be wary of the Khmer Rouge and demanding that the Khmer Rouge representatives that still held Cambodia's UN seat be expelled,[12] Sihanouk again joined forces with them in order to provide a united front against the Vietnamese occupation, some believe because of US pressure to work with the Khmer Rouge.[13] In 1982 he moved completely into opposition against the Vietnam-supported government, becoming President of the Coalition Government of Democratic Kampuchea (CGDK), which consisted of his own Armée Nationale Sihanoukiste (ANS), Son Sann's Khmer People's National Liberation Front (KPNLF), and the Khmer Rouge. The Vietnamese withdrew in 1989, leaving behind a pro-Vietnamese government under ex-Khmer Rouge cadre Hun Sen to run the PRK.
