This is perhaps the last show for type 092 before the retirement.

Actually I think leasing a boomer or two with the full compliment of 12 SLBMs would be a great idea. If not the type 92 there is alway the possibility to extending the Type 94 production run by a sub or two.

There would be pretty much nothing India can do against Pakistan at that point.

the only solid submarine talk between pak-china have been that of conventional diesel subs, with no sight of u214 procurement.

no matter how close the friendship, lease of SSBN is completely farfetched.

btw , do the members here contemplate the economics of operating a SSBN,
can PN really afford one??

Lease a missile boat? No way!
No country has ever allowed another access to its ballistic missile submarines, no matter how close the relationship. An attack boat without cruise missiles is a defensive system, but a missile boat is a strategic offensive strike weapon.
Such a move would make India's already nervous military hawks even more paranoid and might result in dangerous moves on their part. A Xia boat with 12 accurate nuclear missiles would be seen as such a threat to them that they would probably over-react.
I think that the statesmen of the PRC would not risk an Indian over-reaction and enmity to allow this to happen.
This OP article is from a blog and seems to be a fanboy's imagination.
for your kind information....
Russia to lease nuclear submarine to India for decade: report

MOSCOW, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- Russia will lease a multifunctional nuclear submarine to India for a decade in the second half of this year, the Itar-Tass news agency reported Tuesday, quoting a Russian Defense Ministry official.

The Nerpa nuclear submarine, which successfully concluded tests last December, will be handed over to India this summer or autumn, the unidentified official told Itar-Tass.

The official said Indian crew would come to Russia's military base near the far eastern port of Vladivostok to take the Nerpa on trial. "After the signing of an act of acceptance, the Nerpa will head for India," the source said.

Mikhail Dmitriev, director of the Federal Service of Military and Technical Cooperation, said in December 2008 that Russia might lease a nuclear submarine to India for 10 years.

The Nerpa, one of Russia's newest nuclear-powered submarines, had an accident during trials in the Sea of Japan in November 2008,killing 20 people and injuring 21 others. The submarine passed successfully several rounds of tests and was transferred to the Russian navy on Dec. 28, 2009.

Most likely to be used for training and adaptation as well evaluation by PN against French and German products. The valuable R/D will go towards product refinement and adaptation according to PN standards. Such ventures have proven highly successful with PAF for JF17, ZD awacks, SAM etc etc

Honestly, I think PN should concentrate on SSGNs rather than SSBNs. Reasons
1)The distance between India and Pakistan is not as long as between China and US so no need to go for big boats with long endurance.
2)Get silent boats from China which can fire SLCMs, develop a SLCM version of babur and you have most of the indian costal area under red zone where AF strikes and conventional land based missiles cant reach.
3) A boat which can endure a couple of months and carry 20-30 SLCMs can damage Indian interests as a nukie so I think get a modern sub (whether with or without ToT), modify it to fire SLCMs and you have a perfect pain inflictor for IN

But PLAN is waiting for the more dominant type 096, so leasing two 12 SLBMs type 094 to Pakistan isn't a big problem when PLAN has already four 16 SLBMs type 094 and six 24 SLBMs type 096 in service in the near future.

However, i think CCP has more chance to lease type 093 because leasing the SSBN can cause more political sensitivity.

So what? The Type 094-I is still gonna be part of service. That means it can't leave our inventory.

While, our Type 092s are neglected and it should be put to good use.

Well subs or no subs, but this is where you don't understand our bond with China.

If China really intends to offer the SSBN to Pakistan, then it should be Type 092G at least, because the original Type 092 is too outdated and unsafe.

Isn't China a signatory of MTCR ??..then how can it lease a Boomer armed with Chinese missiles..if not armed with Chinese ballistic missile ...then armed with Pakistani Ballistic missile??..but which ??
