China to have 4 aircraft carriers, 18 Type 055 destroyers, and 300 J-20 by 2025

Pretty powerful fleet that will easily be No. 2 in the world by then.

The most powerful of the 4 aircraft carriers will be the two Type-003 currently being built and expected into service by 2023.
It says around 40 fighter aircraft will be carried but do you know which type as I cannot see pretty obsolete for the time J-15s being built for these carriers?

Also overseas bases, they are very crucial in power projection along with Carrier battle groups .

Well China can base in Pakistan for sure.

That is China's biggest problem I see when trying to compete with the US as they will need to find host countries for their carrier groups.

The newest satellite image shows that the Type 003 can displace over 90,000 tonnes, it is most likely a nuclear supercarrier with the EMALS and AGG.

China needs to diminish the replenishment problem with the lack of oversea naval bases.

Has the physical work on the fourth carrier already started?

Yep, it has been started, it is a sister ship to the Type 003.

China is planning to have four Type 003 class supercarriers as the first step, possibly all nuclear powered.

Yes but the escorts will still not be nuclear powered.
Of course having a nuclear carrier in a CBG will be helpful in terms of saving on fuel but it will not get rid of the fuel problem entirely and of course it's aircraft will need fuel.

I think next decade China will for sure have one CBG based in Pakistan and only try to compete with the US globally in the 2030s - it needs to become a lot more richer and more militarily powerful to see how many countries will be willing to allow it to base it's CBGs on their territory.

Having the nuclear supercarrier will not solve all replenishment problems, but it will significantly abate those problems.

Imagining when our 90,000+ tonnes supercarrier is conventional, it gonna be an even worse nightmare for our replenishment.

Yes the super-carrier will probably use more fuel than all the escorts combined, assuming two Type-55s and two Type-052Ds are the surface escorts.

China is also planning to build the nuclear powered replenishment ship.
