China threatens its Neighbours

Many Vietnamese believe that US would help Vietnam to bomb China back to stone age, the ignorance is just incredible from these people.

The only one America has bombed to the stone age was Vietnam. They dropped more bombs in that little place than World War 2 in total.

All I can say is there are already enough Asian organizations, military powers and equipment to contain China. Russia, India, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore, Vietnam, Australia are more than enough to contain any Chinese adventurism. I dont think the US and EU are required to play a role here. I can only see a military warfare over resources. I dont see anything over land grabbing etc. But Chins seems to be only wanting to trade with all these countries. Not sure where all the animosity is coming from. But if the question is what can we do if China gets belligerent, the world need not worry. Asia already has a counter balancing solution. One good things about Indians is they engage much better with foreign countries than China does and have created a minimum military infrastructure required to singly or multiply with other countries to contain China. The bad thing is Indian military and government are corrupt and we dont know if they'll p.i.s.s. everyone off when it matters.

If the US is not needed why are you guys fighting local governments to keep your bases around?

Just curious.

nobody but America can actually partially contain China, and even that isn't working out too well. All the countries you mentioned combined is not enough to take on China so stop dreaming.

T-50 costs no less than 100 million per unit, even your military expenditures hike up to 10 billion, are you going to spend it all just for few squadrons of T-50?
When India, Russia, the Middle East, SEA, and South America buy them, the per unit should be around $100 million.

What people don't understand is that the several billion dollars/year of military budget of Vietnam is reserved mostly for weapon procurements. Expenses like wages, shelter, and food to pay for the personels are really low; a little more or less than $500 million/year. Add that to the fuel, maintaince, and some R&D these costs is just about $1 billion. It is safe to say that Vietnam can reserve something like $2-3 billion/year for new weapon purchase. Over a span of 7-8 years, there will not be a lack of funding to purchase new stuff like T-50

The problem is what Vietnam would have to do to get on the partner list for F-35 and how long she would have to wait.
VN will not buy the F-35 because the U.S won't sell. The cost of $150 mil/unit is really high. Add that to the fact that Vietnamese military personnels are trained to read Russian manuals, not English manuals.

Previous government's policies. Takes time to unwind. You'll see that we wont be doing this anymore. We are confident of the world's strategic counter balancing equations that we are now cutting our defense budget by a large amount. That actually strengthens the dollar and helps the Chinese investments in dollar. Bases will be shut and will turn more toward technology and cooperation with allies to keep our strategic interests at stake. JVs with India, Israel, Japan, Singapore, Australia, Taiwan are all headed in the right direction. Technology is so advanced today that wars can be fought in a variety of ways. For example, someone sitting in Alabama bombs a terrorist hideout in Afghanistan/Pakistan. Rules of engagement have changed and so have we. China, through ignorance or jealousy from neighboring countries or aggression or whatever, has managed to create a ring of edgy powers around itself. These powers have enough military hardware and economic strength to counter China. The US can always support with armaments and embargos on Chinese imports in the US and disruption of energy security etc to aid in countering China but a direct warfare - remote, very remote. But, war will be over resources, intellectual property etc. It wont be over barren pieces of lands. So, the wars with China, if any, will be fought in a very different way. Actually, if India and China go to war over barren lands, the US and the rest of the world will ask them to desist, as that is counter productive for the world. Our policy is very different today.

one third of China's budget is for equipment procurement. This budget can be anywhere from 100 to 200 billion dollars a year and grows at about the sam pace as the economy. lets say its at 150 billion dollars and is growing at 10% percent a year. Reasonable right. About one third of the budget goes to the air force alone. So about 17 billion for procurement this year alone on the air force. 10% increase each year results in a budget of over 200 billion dollars in air force equipment over 10 years alone. This is enough to easily buy 2000 J-20s. Don't try to match China in spending or you will go bankrupt.

How many J-20 can China produce per year?

Why not? India/Russia have nukes, Australia has the uranium, Japan has aegis destroyers to launch and India/SK/Taiwan have long range missiles. And their combined economies are greater than China's. And China has to hit back at multiple countries?? Sure, we can always send more Uranium and SLBMs their way. But, they also already have it. It is just a question of resources, manpower and capital. All these countries seem to have it. So what makes you so cocky?

You seem to believe China is surrounded by countries capable of even thinking of attacking China. That is not the Case. Japan and Korea are now heavily dependent on the Chinese Economy for stability. Russia depends heavily on selling China natural resources to keep its economy chugging along. Israel, Australia, and Singapore? Are you kidding me? Taiwan knows it will be a crater if it tries to attack China or even houses foreign troops there. As for India despite help from almost all the advanced countries can not make an entirely self sufficient weapons industry.

if you want to bring in nukes then its game over for everyone. Aegis destroyers are not amphibious assault ships. Without carriers they have little offensive capability. They might have the capital but they don't have the stones to actually do anything with them. I'm cocky because China has fought 16 countries including the United states during the Korean war with far less resources, manpower, weapons, and friends.

Get real man, all these countries are nothing to us right now.

Japan and Korea are just tiny bugs, India is just an oversized cattle, Russia is just a starving bear. China fears no one. We only think more about US who is our biggest enemy.

yeh China is threatening Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka by helping them in development projects

aur bhi neighbours hain China ke In ke alawa .. japan, korea, vietnam etc ;)
