i think this is like the 10 th time that a thread about PISA is being posted here with the same content but different title(some praising china and some bashing India) and

here are the same stories posted by "china today"(lol.you have posted this topic before and you are reposting it) and other Chinese members under different tittles in this forum itself

The OP (original poster) cited a May 8, 2012 article from BBC News.

I know you didn't read it. If you did, you would realize they are discussing China's rural test results on the PISA. That is new information.

Sure china is clever than others. You know why? Because it figured out that it has the dumbest citizens, hence they censor thoughts, opinions, text that has diverse content. Why else would they keep the citizens censored from it? It's like parents that keep certain content away from their kids, they are too immature to understand it.

Very nice accomplishment indeed by China. Europe should learn from China on primary education...

No NO No, the children in china are very tired. I want to be a child in west not china. so many things to learn and so many pressure coming from family and society

mostly family. there are some old fashioned traditional Chinese who still think this way. the test itself isn't that hard. i played computer games most of my high school and got a 580. something like 400 points are easy easy easy multiple choice. the schools make the test seem harder than it is by stupid teaching methods. before the test i spent 3 weeks ditching school and just doing problems on my own.

if you think this is stress, keep in mind the tertiary admission rate in even Anhui is something like 40% today and you can keep trying every year. the admission rate in 1980's and early 90's was something like 1% and it was literally one shot go big or go home.

China's results in international education tests - which have never been published - are "remarkable", says Andreas Schleicher, responsible for the highly-influential Pisa tests.

I'm not sure if the chinese students have used hig tech copying techniques (just as their govt does) to win the exams

This Chamcha's level is off the charts!

Guess thats hindi, strange a chinese living in USA talking hindi so fluently

:rofl:classic example of an indian seeking the white man's approval

So by that standard your Mohd Younus is also a White Man's chamcha. Think for a while before you open your big mouth.

Nobel is still the highest and most respected award given out for scientific and cultural advances. if you don't get it, no need to blame the white man.

Well for one thing, China has been a consistent topper in IMO and IPhO over the past decade. India is simply nowhere in that league. We have focused too much on our JEEs to abandon our pursuit in preparing for IMO. Heck, many BTechs entering IITB are blissfully unaware of what effort goes on in IMO (its crazier than prepping for the JEE). Same goes for the ACM-ICPC. Unfortunately, our skills in problem solving has degraded as of late and we keep plucking the low-hanging fruits wherever available in this country. Motivated, guided and pushed rightly, we can work wonders. I believe that we do have that potential provided we focus in the right direction.
