Chinese woman astronaut Wang Yaping at the Jiquan satellite launch centre in Gansu province on Monday. Wang, 35, will become the second Chinese woman in space when she blasts off on board the Shenzhou-10 spacecraft on Tuesday.
An air force pilot who belongs to a farmers family, she was pipped by Liu Yang last year to become the first Chinese woman to go to space. Wangs 15-day mission is aimed at building Chinas first spacelab to rival the Mir, managed by the United States and Russia.
