You are incorrect. China has mutual defense treaty with NK. AS long as NK doesn't attack first China will defend NK if US decide to attack first

Chinese people don't want to defend North Korea and the government knows this fact very well. Chinese government won't be stupid to impose a war which Chinese people don't want. end of the story.

China has a duty to look after Chinese citizens first. Why the Hell should China sacrifice even 1 single soldier for North Korea?

What China wants is a buffer zone, it doesn't have to be Fat Kim (who is a problem for China), it can be anything, as long as it is a buffer zone of reasonable size.

In the last Korean War, China said: "Do not approach the Yalu River".

But America refused to give China a buffer zone, so China declared war on American forces and pushed them into the longest retreat in American military history.

If America refuses to give us a buffer zone again, it will be the Korean War 2.0 immediately. But I don't think America is that stupid, especially considering the last Korean War.

What is more likely however, is that Donald Un and Kim Trump will simply try to nuke each other out of existence. Leaving China to deal with a refugee crisis on the borders.

There is another simple solution that will be win win for US and China too....Why not China occupy and merge that poor country with China??? At least those poor NK people get some quality life you merge it with your nation....US will be happy that there is no more NK to make any noise.

If China did annex NK, first you have got people who are brainwashed to death about loyalty to Kim dynasty unlike Crimea which mostly are Russians and was part of Russian empire for a long time. Second, SK will nag to China to death about losing half the country they have wanted to unite since WWII.
Best long term solution maybe to have SK unite the country but on condition that SK will stay neutral without any foreign military alliance. Kind like Austria during the cold war period.
If I remember correct, imperial China have sent army into Korea twice to defend the country from Japan and left afterward. If China wanted to annex Korea, that would have been better time.

China is not stupid enough to defend Kim because he constantly disobeys the former's orders. No country is stupid enough to risk war with the United States over a disobedient country ... especially if it's North Korea. Personally, I think if the US attacked North Korea, China would do the same by invading from the north, eventually meeting up in the middle. But no way is it going to help the Kim regime which is bound to be totally destroyed if war starts ...


Even then, around 200.000 Chinese soldiers gave their lives against the UN. I recall reading an article about how the Norks desecrated Chinese PVA tombs when tensions were high ... so much respect for China.


Don't be fooled, North Korea is not a "peaceful" or "well-intentioned" country. The United States does not like it and so doesn't China ... the "alliance" is in name only. Remember how it sunk that poor South Korean frigate? If war breaks out, the first thing China would do is scrap that 1961 treaty and invade North Korea ... thereby establishing a buffer within the Korean peninsula itself. Basically, everybody wins but North Korea. China gets more minerals and a permanent buffer within Korea itself; the US & SK no longer have to deal with this pest ...

You may be right, but do you realize that US is 'riding' tension in Korean peninsula for it's own sake? Uncle Sam is 'control' SK for long ago, and they know for sure how to irritating Kim dynasty, so NK make more 'stupid decision' that make their neighbor (China, and Russia) in trouble (THAAD). More hilarious that US in blaming China for not doing enough dealing with NK, this is one-sided, this is US 'games'.

to be honest, my thoughts are that the CHina will still defend North Korea even if a missile were to land on US soil.

China will never permit American troops up to the yalu river, that's like opening a potentially hostile front on its backyard. it's just unacceptable.

Reinforcement of American boots on the ground to the 38th parallel will only result PLA in doing the same in a preemptive manner. This is not the Middle East or anywhere in the world. So goes the saying 'if u cant beat your enemy, either u join them(impossible in China/US context)- or avoid them.

Hence, there r only 2 countries in the world that the US can nv influence, let alone mess with: China and Russia.

Thus, we are in reality- living in a tripolar world. All the rest are trivial conievers in the US camp or neutral small actors in today's context.

Korean war 2 is just not possible.

Of course China will send troops to NK if USA invades. We fight for our own, not Kim's family. China shall take advantage of this opportunity to eradicate Kim's family from NK, and try to establish a pro-China regime in NK.
