China Orders Universities to Ban Textbooks 'Promoting Western Values'

Never said Chinese civilisation is bad or inferior.Nobody bans it in here.

We can borrow some western ideas that is suitable to the Chinese civilization, but our core civilization will remain Chinese.

Just like we have fully integrated the communism which is a western ideology into our civilization.

Oh please. You only added that post blurb after I called you out on your first assertion. Like you had any intention of clarifying yourself if I didn't ask you to.

That's simply because you failed to read the first post properly. I only said the melting pot was an American concept, not that it was their ONLY concept. That was a figament of your imagination.

And I did clarify it, by specifically stating that some elements of multiculturalism do exist in America.

Now can you clarify, when did I say anyone was "forced to give up their culture"? And when did I say "the melting pot was 100% absolute"?

If you check the thread, you will find that you have put all these words in my mouth. I never said them, nor do I believe them.

Do you just look at my Chinese flag, and put words in my mouth according to what you think a Chinese person would say?

Unfortunately you were wrong, I don't believe any of those things you have put into my mouth, those were based on your own preconceptions/stereotypes of what a Chinese person would say. They had nothing to do with what I actually said.

So,you're basically admitting that nowadays Chinese culture is to wait for the West to invent something,be it technology or ideology, adopt it,even as a (cheap) copy and than cry about it out loud how it wants to preserve its ancient culture.

Ok...got it,bye friend.

.

Listen there IS NO BIG DIFFERENCE between how multiculturalism is handled in Europe than America.
You pointed out the US is a melting pot while Europe is "salad bowl". My assertion is that there is NO difference in the way multiculturalism is handled. IF the US is more melting pot it is because for some reason people are choosing it to be that way. There are no rules or laws pointing a gun at people's heads telling hem to conform to "melting pot".

China will not borrow the western ideas forever.

We are starting to make our own ideas and to shape the world when we have surpassed the US.

BTW, except the US which is a member of the western world, which western nations have made the major contribution to the world?

Germany/UK/France are also the major western nations who made their contribution to the modern world, but your nation Romania, what she has contributed so far?

What made you qualified to make fun and to question about China's capability?

I never said that either.

Again, I only said the "melting bowl" was an American CONCEPT. And I never said that Europe was a Salad bowl either. These are all concepts, that various countries use in different mixtures. I never singled out any country, my reference to America was for inventing the melting bowl concept.

Seriously, which posts are you reading? Because they are certainly not mine, nor those belonging to anyone else on this thread. They are coming out of your own mind, and being placed into my mouth in a very unfortunate manner.

Again:

"Unfortunately you were wrong, I don't believe any of those things you have put into my mouth, those were based on your own preconceptions/stereotypes of what a Chinese person would say. They had nothing to do with what I actually said."

I think each and every country should preserve its culture, customs and values like the way china is doing.
And preserving ones culture doesnot necessarily means that you have to give up on the technologies that you have got from other countries, and should quit doing trades or things like that. And it also doesnt means that if you are attaining some sort of technology then you have to adopt that countries culture as well from where you have taken this technology.

Its just like saying that "i am sick so instead of taking "penadol" i would like to take all the medicine from the hospital". This is a sheer stupidity. You dont need to adopt their culture as well if you are using their technology.

Prostitution is illegal in China, same as **** book or **** movies are illegal. But they are legal in US. Quoting some underground stuff does not prove your point.

Macau gambling is legalise by Portugal, not Chinese. CCP just continue whats left by colonise and uphold the promise of 50years unchanged policy.

Las vegas is created by American value and people.

The prostitution-friendly hotel list in China is a lot longer than the US list.
Yes, prostitution is illegal here too...but just like China has Macau for their vice the US has sin city areas around Las Vegas for ours ...where in some small areas 60 miles from it (yes it is illegal in Las Vegas itself) in Reno and Carson City it is legal for some old loophole reason.

It will lead to crises in every society.

Yeah, many Chinese girls now have slept dozen men before of getting married.

This bad morale never existed before the induction of the western liberalism which is obsessed about the pleasure of the sex.

Chairman Mao has liberated the Chinese women from the sex discrimination of the feudalism, but he didn't want them to fall into another trap of the extremism and to become a bunch of female animals who are obsessed about the sex.

I live in Carson City, and prostitution is not legal here, or in Reno.

The state law is specifically that the legality of prostitution is decided locally, county by county. Each county decides for themselves to legalize or not. There is an exception for large population counties, but it affects only Clark and Washoe counties (Las Vegas and Reno, respectively). They are required to have prostitution illegal. The other counties all make their own choice. Most of them have legalized it, but Carson City (which is it's own county) and Douglas county have decided to keep it illegal.

As with everywhere, the illegality of prostitution doesn't keep it from happening completely. The nearby legality tends to suppress prostitution more, actually - why be a prostitute (or a John) in Carson City when you can drive over the county line and it's legal?

Further, regarding Chinese and gambling, Nevada casinos all have adopted particular games to appeal to Asian (mostly Chinese) audiences. On a per capita basis, I would guess Chinese gamble more than non-Chinese, based on the way casinos here work to draw in that demographic (asian buffets, asian games, etc).

Both men and women love sex, no one can oppress any gender from their sexual desire as long as sex is the mutual legally consent of the people involved.

Sorry, but the women of the Tang Dynasty obviously didn't show their cleavage like this.

That HK director was obviously exaggerating the style of dress.

BTW, HK has produced so many adult movies about the ancient China, so this is obviously not the true Chinese culture. :cheesy:

We always used to fully cover our body in order to distinguish ourselves with other 'barbarians'.
