First of all US incursion into Afghan Soviet war was mainly to inflict heavy loses on then USSR and was in no way driven by protection thing. Secondly when US invaded Afghanistan, at that time Russia was no threat for it as it was itself struggling with economy and other issues. When we gave US bases mainly for Afghan operations, they didnt just stop there but started destabalizing Pakistan with help of many NGOs and organisations like Black water. Moreover the word dhons was used because US wasnt welcome here but forced its way by threatening Mushi with dire consequences. China brought over heavy investment in Pakistan and a stable Pakistan is what in favor of protection of that investment. So both the cases are 180 degrees opposite.

Like i said any Chinese Naval Base in Gwader wud be mainly meant to keep the supply lines open and protect Chinese Cargo in the sea. It has got nothing to do with movement of cargo inside Pakistan as its our responsibility to protect it inside our own territory. Dont confuse the movement of cargo in sea and inside Pakistan with each other. These two are two totally different aspects.

Given the Chinese investment in our friendly Pakistan,I totally support this kind of base.But If this base could bring troubles to our friends,I strongly oppose it.As you know,China has some territorial disputes on the land and sea.And China also has a big challenge from USA and their allies.If we set up the base,it must incite the provocation from those potential rivals,it will do harm to Pakistan core interest as well as Pakistan diplomatic policy.The stance is embarrassing.
My suggestion is that China should concentrate on the infrastructure and port thing of CPEC,once it could bring colossal economical and social interest to Pakistani and Chinese,then we go for the base and it is more reasonable.
Pakistan and China hold the card but we must use it scrupulously.

Let the people go wild on that or I would say the thoughts have no limits especially when it comes about Pak-China.

There is no such thing that many of us got in minds about such speculation by Pentagon. One thing for sure, CPEC is big like a real big thing to be happen and we are aware that how many out there still dream to make it controversial as well as a fail project yet Pak and friends are not just committed to the same and more but would go to any of the limits.

China would be supporting the security of Pakistan and that is not new but since long we have been purchasing defence packages from China and it would be bigger than before in near future so the burn by adversaries is something that we cannot help.

Indeed Pakistan has been fighting the war on terrorism and we have the enemies that from inside as well, would never miss a chance to cause us damage so while looking at the economical condition of ours, initially our friend will be helping us to form a fool proof security and this is how it works but doesn't mean that we are that weak though some toys are needed indeed and soon the area would be addressed as well.

CPEC is based upon mutual interest so we will be helping each other where it is needed. Hope you will understand and you wouldn't be driven by such wild speculations. However, these words of Weaknesses could be said for our political pedigree.

So what if we cover our weakness it means China will protect our waters which USA left space than someone has to fill if our old friend not going to favour us and join their hands with our enemy we have right to join USA enemy to full fill our needs

CHINA is Mother of PAKISTAN, If we have problems their . we go to mother CHINA. Mother ask FOR BASE, we will give to him. We need. They can GAWADER, make deep water PORT for their Submarines, Frigi, etc etc........................

Friend or not, do not allow any permanent foreign military base in our country (unless its bilateral), it will negatively affect your sovereignty, sooner or later. Will China allow a permanent Pakistani base on its soil? In that case, it would be a fair deal. And this applies to every single country in the world.

Why is this even a news. It was pretty clear from the start that China would have bases in Pakistan.

It seems like a good thing for many reasons if we play out cards right.

1- it will improve our already excellent relationship with our only all weather friend. The naval base should come with some kind of a bilateral logistics support agreement and lots of military trainings.

2- Indian Navy is growing fast and going nuclear, supported by nuclear subs and aircraft carriers. PN would need to invest billions of dollars to even protect our waters and deny them blockage of our maritime routes and ports. With Chinese presense, consider half the work done. I donot assume that China will fight our war but she will definitely protect her interests if we ever go to war with India. Karachi may become vulnerable but Gwadar will remain a no go area for India.

3- It will be the official end and the last nail in the coffin of Pak-US alliance, an alliance that has brought nothing but trouble for us.

4- Foreign proxies active in Balochistan will come to an end as we will invest heavily in internal security with the assistance of China. This will stabilise Balochistan.
