If I recalled, shortly after GWB, a.k.a. Dubya, took office, there was an incident occurred near the Chinese air space known as the Hainan Island Incident. An US Navy EP-3E collided with a China J8 fighter. The fighter crashed and the Chinese pilot was lost. The US spy plane made an emergency landing on Hainan Island. The crew were detained.

The US President ended up making a public apology (he later recanted) to China before China agreed to let the plane and the crew released. The nugget of this incident was China refused the US to remove the plane by the US personnel. The US had to hire Russia to chop the plane up in several pieces, box it up and haul it away in a Russian freighter.

The B52 is a much heavier plane. I don't think it could glide to a nearby runaway if a collision were to occur. The B52 would drop like a rock into the sea.

I don't mind seeing it happened.

More like incompetent airmanship on the Chinese pilot. The J-8 would be an agile sports car and the EP-3, which is a four engine prop jobber, would be like a fully loaded 18-wheeler. When the collision news came out, the entire aviation community suspected, correctly as it turned out, that the fault of the collision was on the Chinese pilot. The PLAAF learned the lesson. Their pilots will be more restrained the next time they are ordered to escort duty.

My brother show the video to his mate and co-worker in Boeing, they said, if you can do that, either the US pilot have Supurb airmanship or the Chinese pilot is as stupid as a rock, or possibly both.

In the end, it does not end well for the Chinese pilot, either he is a incompetent pilot, or he is a hot shot think he is too hot
