China counters India's $2 billion with whopping $24 billion for Bangladesh

All that money, very good thing to happen to all of India's smaller neighbors.
But (a big one !) Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have to understand that nothing dramatic can happen in the region without India's co-operation. As far as these countries don't go against India's national interests everything will be peaceful. Sri Lanka's situation is somewhat better, it has sea routes but Bangladesh ? With 90% of its borders stuck with India they need to be very careful with every decision they take.

Actually it is India which has to understand that they need to behave and act properly so that the status quo remain in place. BD can just ignore India completely and move on, but India cant and it has to come to BD.

It is not that simple. Unfortunately your geographic position is not conducive to your personal fantasy. Enough said....

Easier said than done....
No one can encircle India in our own backyard. China tried and failed miserably.
This 24 billion donation is another attempt at that. It is BD's choice to grow or to end up butt hurt.

And Bangladesh does not have sea access.... India is irrelevant for BD and it is not constrained by India. If it was BD would not have been China's second largest defense customer.

Rather than telling BD what it can and can not do.... better concentrate on your own economy and feed your people.

India is not a superpower and a country of 165mn people can not be controlled by a foreign power.

Too many jaamatis in this thread. All I can say is general people of Bangladesh doesn't see a difference between BAL or BNP. They want prosperity. These deals definitely puts Hasina in good lights among general people. If Hasina can pull off Padma bridge project successfully during her reign, she will be cememnted as one of the most successful politicians of Bangladesh.

Democracy is not about foreign support it's about whether you have support of your people. One party demagoguery has a shelf life.

She has been shrewd and successful and if development agenda is successful she will justly be applauded. However this remains to be seen.
