says an indian whos country was taken over and ruled by the Muslim invaders for hundreds of years then the British for hundreds more, japan was strong we were weak this we know but we fought, lost millions but not defeated and used as slaves(famines every 20 years anyone?).

in 62 the china was just building the nation as well after 100 years of turmoil. and china is still bigger than india. only this time its way bigger in GDP and production capability as well. but yes both sides have nukes but no one can say a small border conflict like 62 couldnt happen again.

depends, china would not shoot first against SK or japan and invite extra trouble if they weren't shooting at us, and they would never shoot at china first either especially SK where shooting at china effectively mean deaths of hundreds of thousands to million of their citizens(at least from the NK invasion that would happen)

china isnt going to just flat out invaded every country out there, it makes no sense to do so. and this is a southern asian problem japan and SK dont play a role. if vietnam pushes it far enough maybe a minor skirmish might happen where a ship or 2 of theirs would get sunk and maybe an island or 2 get invaded but this isnt the 70s and no one is thinking of directly going into territories that is not disputed(such as a invasion of north vietnam). a minor naval skirmish might put others on alert but at the same time demonstrate a clear red line and that perhaps negotiation is far better as even in a group the asean members would most likely lose in a flat out naval conflict, not to mention that they themselves have competing claims and some of them dont even have disputed with china why would those nations put themselves at risk especially since asean isnt a military alliance? also as a side note, taiwan is not in anyway gonna help any of those other nations with their claims against the PRC there is a better chance of taiwan having a naval skirmish with vietnam than taiwan and vietnam shooting at a PRC ship together.
