China asks Obama not to meet Dalai Lama

And if there are enough who do recognize, would the PRC concede?

Of course not, but nobody does recognize it. Not even your own Government.

So it is a moot point.

If anyone feels strongly about it, they should question their own Government's recognition of Tibet as a sovereign part of China.

Now since Mr. President has decided to meet spritual guru... Chinese member, please shed light on what China can do??? Are you gonna take away your US investments or you gonna close some american shops in your land??

What does that mean? No different than -- Tibet is an internationally recognized dispute.

You do not feel you are contradictory? Tibet is part of Chinese territory, this is not an international controversy, even if the West, just use some slave-owning aristocracy, those slave treatment is controversial, not Tibet.

No, why would we turn down an opportunity to make money?

This is all political talk. Just like how America said "hacking is an act of war", yet has not done anything about the numerous "acts of war" that China has supposedly committed against it.

Or how India talked big about "surgical strikes"... but despite multiple attacks on Mumbai, they can't actually do anything other than talk.

A tougher stance on other major issues, a fly does not have any worthy of attention,of course the Chinese people will be more nationalist, it would be a by-product.

That is something to be happy things, the U.S. economy to a critical moment, such a move shows that China is not big concessions, the United States was not satisfied with it, very well, China has a strong position in own interests.

your post has gone over my head.. what exactly u wanna convey???

Of course it is such a controversy. The Dalai Lama is a respected figure around the world. As long as there is a voice for the Tibetans and as long as there is a receptive audience, then a controversy exist.

It is not a moot point. Keep in mind that the PRC was recognized and received by the UN General Assembly long AFTER the ROC. China's leadership is not that blind.

As usual, your own Government seems to be siding with our position, by recognizing and reiterating that Tibet is a part of China.

They will give a few token gestures, such as meeting the Dalai Lama, but on the issue that counts (recognition of Tibet as a part of China) they seem to have sided with us, rather than with you.

I look forward to seeing if you (and others) can start any momentum within American politics to make them accept your point of view.

Rest assured, the West can create a fantasy, even if you are ignorant about Tibet. You want to believe own illusions, I will not disturb you, but your attention to it, Chinese people will not eat this drug.

If he is so unimportant, then why a Giant nation making all the fuss about????

Are flies and mosquitoes annoying to you? Are they that important to any human being? However, does any human have to react to them?

dalai lama is just like an annoying fly that is around you and that is it. We really hope he can quickly drop dead so that we do not have to listen to its annoying sound.

ROC, or PRC, does it matter that much to normal Chinese? It is just the continuous governorship of China by a different dynasty. An new one replaces the old one. Just like ROC replaces Qing dynasty, well we have PRC replaces ROC.

Well, PRC has not replaced ROC quite cleanly, leaving taiwan still unsolved. Well, such thing happened all the time during Chinese history. Even for Qing dynasty, it took more than 40 years for Qing to eradicate all the remaining of Ming Dynasty, including taiwan, after its establishment.

As for dalai lama, we just wait for him to drop dead. Then we can finally have this annoying fly removed from our ears.

BTW, I do not think U.S. government has said anything different during ROC time. It only makes a fuss about it year in and year out simply because China is in communist hand. Even so, no major official government DARE recognize Tibet.

It is not a moot point. Keep in mind that the PRC was recognized and received by the UN General Assembly long AFTER the ROC. China's leadership is not that blind.
