China Aims to Become ‘Strong Film Power’ Like U.S. by 2035

Absolutely ZERO chance of this happening. The world will always find American culture far more attractive than Communist repression.

Once again my previous reply was deleted by someone, but one year later it becomes even more pertinent than ever, being of the most insightful and absolutely true:

As stated, The Wandering Earth is not a one time stunt, but like the COVID-19, only the beginning of a new era, with many more to come, over a century and beyond!

China has released its most successful sci-fi movie in the international market, 'The Wandering Earth'.
Unfortunately it made less than $10M in the International market.

25th November 2019

Producing sci-fi movie is not motivated by making money.

But it is an official milestone that is intended to trumpet both internally, and externally to the world one's achievement of a new geopolitical status.

It is equivalent of a Graduation Day for nations.

Summary

China

The 2019 sci-fi movie 'The Wandering Earth' was released one year before the start of the building of China's space station.

It announces the accession of China as a hyperpower.

Absolutely ZERO chance of this happening. The world will always find American culture far more attractive than Communist repression.

ZERO chance with 10 in front of it! Always? Not even a year indeed...

It is so heartwarming to see that the China of 2020 is so powerful and its cultural influence has even increased far beyond what the Soviet Union ever could during the Cold War era, and what today's India, as the only other contender and declared would-be superpower can't even dream of!

In that sense, the following unprecedented development is a true exploit:

"The Three-Body Problem" to be adapted as Netflix series

(Xinhua) 09:52, September 02, 2020

SHANGHAI, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- China's cultural company Yoozoo Group and the U.S. streaming giant Netflix announced Tuesday that they would jointly launch a new dramatic series inspired by the Hugo Award-winning sci-fi trilogy "The Three-Body Problem."

As part of a deal with the rights-holder, the Three Body Universe (Shanghai) Cultural Development Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Yoozoo Group, Netflix has been granted the rights to produce the English-language serial adaptation of the saga, with the writer Liu Cixin and the translator Ken Liu serving as consulting producers.

Officially named "Remembrance of Earth's Past," the three-part saga is more widely known by the name of its first book "The Three-Body Problem." The plot revolves around young physicist Ye Wenjie's contact with the Trisolaran civilization living in a three-sun system and the following centuries-long clashes between earthlings and the aliens.

"I set out to tell a story that transcends time and the confines of nations, cultures and races; one that compels us to consider the fate of humankind as a whole," Liu said.

"Liu Cixin's trilogy is the most ambitious science-fiction series we've read, taking readers on a journey from the 1960s until the end of time, from life on our pale blue dot to the distant fringes of the universe," said executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, who are also members of the creative team of "Game of Thrones."

"We look forward to spending the next years of our lives bringing this to life for audiences around the world," they said.

Be warned, in a little less than a year later, after breaching the U.S. first line of cultural defence, China has entered inside the core of the U.S. Empire, and is preparing to storm what remains of the U.S. cultural hegemony!

But did they ever stand a chance? Mongols, Manchus and all colonizers have yielded invariably in the past, absorbed into the Chinese cultural fabric.

What an epochal era we are witnessing! The Climatic Warming induced rise of the Subtropical Earth, and all the subtropical pandemics to follow, and now this polar reversal in the movie industry!

Remembrance of Earth's Past could not better describe this new chapter in mankind history, the dying Pax Americana finally supeseded by the unipolar world order under the Pax Sinica, also known as the China Century.

Language is the biggest barrier for the Chinese movies and dramas to gain popularity.

Language is not the barrier.

But quality.

Just look at South Korea.

K-Pop is extremely popular worldwide.

In my opinion, the Korean music industry can replace USA one day, as today Korea produces better music.

The language thing is a weak excuse as worldwide released movies are in several languages

Here's an example of 25
"AVENGERS ASSEMBLE" in different languages

That is not a good example. South Korea K-Pop is only known in Asia, but certainly not popular in Europe, Middle East, Africa. The barrier is not language only, physically they are simply far from attractive: as short and thick mongoloids with face round like the moon, for ethnic Aryans, in Europe, the Middle East and even Africa, 7 heads tall is the norm, with round eyes, long and angulous face, extra long arms, feet, hands and legs. And for men, beard is a plus.

Language is not a problem. Every employed person in 2035 will have already learned Mandarin at secondary school.

Since Mandarin will totally replace English as the lingua franca by 2045.

It is a fact that in most South East Asian nations, people learn Mandarin, such as in the northern provinces of Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar. In Cambodia, even the military is following this tide.

As for Korea and Japan, since the 1990s, they come by millions each year in China to train and pass the HSK (汉语水平考试), only to find an employment back in their country. Forget about TOEFL, HSK is the new norm!

Science fiction movie is the most difficult to produce because it requires a top level in fundamental research. It is not as easy to produce as romance or comedy movies. Meaning that even the European Union nor the Soviet Union could compete with the U.S. in this field.

Therefore the first ever challenger is China, because for the first time, China can now publish more hard science papers than the U.S., that in turn inspire authors and scriptwriters.

Nonsense. Science fiction has been around since the 17th century. All it takes is creative minds.

Kpop has been gaining a lot of popularity in the West in the last five years. Preferences have changed too. Now many non-Asian women are wanting to get Korean/East Asian boyfriends.

IMO China needs to change beauty standards to capture global markets. Nobody wants to see feminine guys and skeleton girls in a movie. When will ever get to see strong muscular Asian boys and tough curvy girls. I personally would love to see Chinese movies if the cast looks good.

China should also make use of northerners. Northern Chinese men are masculine and women don't have that retarded look that southerners have. Both men and women are tall and good to look at.

True, that's why Korean men and women are gaining popularity in non-Asian countries because they fit global standards better. Northern Chinese and Koreans are pretty similar in looks.

Southern Chinese tend to be a lot more soft.

Seems interesting. @ps3linux @Hamartia Antidote @RealNapster

@fitpOsitive, you have spoken against human settlement on other worlds but what do you think of this book ?

"Liu Cixin's trilogy is the most ambitious science-fiction series we've read, taking readers on a journey from the 1960s until the end of time, from life on our pale blue dot to the distant fringes of the universe," said executive producers David Benioff and D.B. I like that the story starts in the 1960s.

"I set out to tell a story that transcends time and the confines of nations, cultures and races; one that compels us to consider the fate of humankind as a whole," Liu said.

A proper communist sentiment.

When you say "curvy girls" I hope you mean chubby, actually curvy girls, not some thin, muscular type that Hollywood promotes.

Hollywood really has some lovely women like Amanda Seyfried and Anna Kendrick but they are thin.
