Rawalpindi - April 14, 2015:
Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Raheel Sharif conferred military awards to Army personnel, for acts of gallantry, in ongoing Operation Zarb-e-Azb in an investiture ceremony, held at General Headquarters today. A large number of military officials and relatives of Shuhada and Ghazis attended the ceremony. 30 officers and soldiers were awarded TAMGHA-E-BISALAT, 33 officers were awarded SITARA-I-IMTIAZ (MILITARY), and 1 soldier was awarded United Nations (UN) Medal. Medals of Shuhada were received by their family members.

Rawalpindi - April 17, 2015:
General Sher Mohammad Karimi, Chief of General Staff, Afghan National Army visited General Headquarters today and called on Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif .

During the meeting, matters related to peace and stability in the region specially in Afghanistan, Pak-Afghan border management and measures to further enhance defence and training cooperation between both the armies were discussed.

Earlier, on arrival at General Headquarters, a smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Army presented Guard of Honour to the dignitary. General Sher Mohammad Karimi also laid floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and offered Fateha for Shuhada.

It may be mentioned here that General Sher Mohammad Karimi will be the chief guest at the passing out parade at PMA Kakul, and address the parade tomorrow.

Major General Mansour Salim Aljobour, commander Royal Jordanian Air force, visited General Headquarters today and called on Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif. Matters of mutual interest were discussed during the meeting. The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan Army’s achievements of Operations Zarb-e-Azb and acknowledged the sacrifices to the cause of eliminating terrorism.

Namaze Janaza of Captain Qasim Zia shaheed who embraced shahdat yesterday, was offered with full military honour today at Army Grave Yard near Racecourse ground Rawalpindi. Captain Qasim was severely injured on 29 April during a major clearance Operation in Tirah, Khyber agency and was evacuated to CMH Peshawar. COAS General Raheel Sharif, Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Muhammad Zaka Ullah, other military officials and relatives of shaheed attended the Namaza Janaza . COAS paid rich tributes to brave Captain Qasim for supreme sacrifice.COAS and Captain Qasim's father reiterated resolve to continue fight till elimination of last terrorist from our soil at any cost.

German Parliamentary delegation calls on COAS

RAWALPINDI – German Parliamentary delegation headed by Dagmer G. Wohrl, Member of German Parliament and Chairperson of the Committee on Economic Cooperation and Development of German Parliament called on Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif at General Headquarters here on Tuesday.


During the meeting, matters of mutual interest were discussed, said an ISPR press release issued here. The delegation appreciated the successes of Operation Zarb-e-Azb and sacrifices of Pakistan Army for stability in the region. Dr. Cyrill Nunn, German Ambassador to Pakistan was also present during the meeting.

General Raheel Sharif is making his first official visit to the island nation, on the invitation of his Sri Lankan counterpart Lieutenant General A.W.J. Crishanthe De Silva. — Reuters
ISLAMABAD: Army Chief General Raheel Sharif has arrived in Colombo on a four day official visit to Sri Lanka.

He was received at the Bandaranaike International Airport by Sri Lankan Army Chief Lieutenant General A.W.J Crishanthe De Silva., High Commissioner of Pakistan Maj Gen(R) Shakeel Hussain and other senior officials.

General Raheel Sharif is making his first official visit to the island nation, on the invitation of his Sri Lankan counterpart Lieutenant General A.W.J. Crishanthe De Silva.

He is expected to meet the President of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

General Sharif will also meet the top leadership of Sri Lanka’s armed forces.

The visit of Pakistan’s Army Chief will provide both sides with an opportunity to review ongoing cooperation and collaboration, and discuss ways to further broaden and deepen the relationship.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka have comprehensive and mutually beneficial training collaboration for army, navy and air force. A strong bond of commitment and mutual understanding has developed between both nations. Both countries are committed to work closely in all fields to boost cooperation and to promote peace in the region.

RAWALPINDI: Military salutes, including a Guard of Honour and a Guard Turnout formally saluted General Raheel Sharif, Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan Army who is currently on tour in Sri Lanka at the invitation of his Sri Lankan counterpart when he visited the Army Headquarters Saturday morning.

A colour-rich Guard of Honour at the Ministry of Defence grounds presented arms and saluted the visiting Army Chief on arrival in accordance with military traditions after a Guard Turnout greeted him, ISPR reported.

"General Raheel Sharif and Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva shared views on several current issues that are relevant to both organizations and the countries at large."

Discussions were largely centered on ongoing training programmes for Sri Lanka Army Officers and possibilities of initiating new bilateral training exercises for Special Forces, etc in the future.

The visiting army chief maintained that possibilities for further enhancements of training openings could be explored during the forthcoming Staff Talks in August.

Major General Jagath Dias, Chief of Staff and Major General Mahesh Senanayake, Military Secretary were also associated with the talks.

Before his exit from the Commander's Office, Pakistan Army Chief received a full briefing on the Sri Lanka Army Training modules from Major General B. Aruna Perera, Director General General Staff. Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff, Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force and several Directors were associated with the presentation of the briefing to the visiting Pakistan's Army Chief.

Gen Sharif was invited to leave memories by signing the VIP visitors’ book at the Commander’s Office. Exchange of token mementoes between both Army Chiefs brought the formal visit to an end.
