Changing Contours of the Japan-India Defense Relations

 yes... I am a woman and my name is korinee kapooria... will you marry me?

I didn't know that Chinese guys have became so impotent that you are searching an Indian guy!!! Thats sad.... really sad!

----------

I say last four nation exercise led by India along with US, Japan and Singapore and India-Japan joint exercises, cooperation are just starting of a new era. Geo-politics will force India and Japan come closer.

Lets try to get this thread on topic again!

Japan is in the technological terms, one of the most developed nations and closer ties to them would be very interesting. So in what fields could we use their knowledge?

As I said in some other threads before, Japan and India share imo the the same major threat, the Chinese sub fleet! To defend itself against them, Japan don't rely just on their subs, frigats and corvetts, they also use helicopter carrier with ASW capabilities, as well as shore based MPA like these:

Hyuga class

IN already ordered P8I long range MPA, but these helicopter carriers would be interesting, because the latest news say IN is also interested in Mistral class LHDs.
These Hyuga class carriers have nearly the same size and are designed to carry helicopters and troops, the only difference is the lack of a well deck, to carry beach landing vehicles. Japan build LHDs before and can look back at experience in carrier development till the world wars, so a co-development for LHDs, or helicopter carrier would be very useful for both countries.
Also these Sikorsky S60J are only build under licence starting 20 years ago and HAL is searching for a foreign partner to develop a new medium size helicopter. One reason for this was, that IN rejected the Dhruv as an ASW helicopter for the carriers and frigats, because it offers not enough range. So a combined medium size helicopter development, especially for the ASW role could be interesting too!

But it gets even better!

Japan also have plans to develop a 5. gen stealth fighter with similar design, size and features as our MCA like TVC:

Although this project could already be too far, because first flight is already planed for 2014, some sources say even 2011. On the other hand Japan is still asking for F22, F35 and negotiating EF, or F15 SE, so the reports are not really clear, however this could be a field for defense cooperations with India too.

These are only some suggestions of me, maybe you guys can add some more.

In my opinion, the best area of possible cooperation, both defence and scientific, with Japan would be in the fields of Robotics and artificial intelligence. The japanese are real aces in the fields of biomimetics, pneumatic muscles, servos, gyro stabilization, etc. and can really help indians learn a few tricks of the trade.

It will be of interest to note that China will be hosting an Olympics for robots in 2010 at Harbin where robots will compete with each other in over 16 sports events.

Also, as both india and Japan are working separately in military lasers technology, they will benefit if cooperation is worked out.

There is little scope as far as conventional hardware such as ships, tanks, and aircrafts are concerned as both follow an altogether different approach in dealing with their respective threat perceptions.

This is a fact

India and Japan only have such dream, but no guts to implement!

when has india claimed tibet or japan claimed taiwan? any sources?

India has even said that she accepts that tibet is a part of china! And I have NEVER heard of Japan claiming any part of Taiwan! yet you still bring your load of trashy claims to every thread.

Please bro, just think twice before you post. For your own sake. Unless you really love looking like an idiot.

Before you accuse someone of being an idiot, perhaps you should look through this VERY FORUM, where INDIAN MEMBERS have on numerous occassions CLAIMED TIBET (on dubious grounds, particularly "religion"). You don't need to go to BRF. When confronted they lie and weazel their way out. :woot:

ya, any indian member who rants and trolls is an idiot too. You won't see me supporting them.

but then, you will still look like an idiot if you base your claims on some other idiot's word.

If we don't base on claims on what people SAY and DO, then what do we base them on??? :)

Simple FACT: Zangnan which is part of TIBET, which is part of CHINA was ILLEGAL "ANNEXED" BY BRITAIN. The "McMahon Line" is an artificial line drawn by some white european, it bears NO semblence to ACTUAL racial & ethnic borders, hence it is stupid and arrogant for any Indian to claim something that isn't theirs. Simple as that.

Another FACT: China had ALWAYS been MUCH MORE powerful than India. We could have taken it BACK by force at any time. Akhand Bharat by foolishly assumes the reasons for that is because of lack of will, or weakness, etc. For the last few decades the BEST OFFER on the table has been a land swap. It is this option that India gets "something for nothing". Imagine a thief being offered to keep part of what he stole, yet he is so greedy he wants to keep all of his stolen loot AND more! This thief is Bharat.

Furthermore, by assuming that by delaying negotiations Akhand Bharat can strengthen itself militarily in the future, that it can steal even more land. Fortunately for the rest of humanity that is not the case. This artificial regime is being exposed to the civilized world as a farce. With only a short time there would be no requirement to use any military force as the regime well dissolve, and with it stolen land will be set free.
