Now it is transparent and this could be the true story :

MKEK was granted a licence from H&K for domestic production of 500.000 HK-33,
after the production of 50.000 pcs. MKEK stopped production cause it was rumored that HK-33 had loading inhibition and lacked precise targeting.
Suddenly MKEK presented the Mehmetcik-1 which was an exact copy of the HK-416.
Later Turkish armed forces wanted a stronger caliber and MPT-76 was developed for only 3 Million USD R&D.

Now, it would be interesting how much licence fee MKEK paid for HK-33 licence ?
Since the cloning happened H&K decided to exclude Turkey from his "Green List", argued that export licences are blocked from German Gov.

It is not ethic to film him secret and make him target, he could suffer and loose his job. After the guy with glasses came he is pretty quiet. He talked some BS ( Italian - Austrian coproduct ).
But there is many truth in it. Most is licensed ,body and motor. He claims we need 15 years for an idigenious engine, but could copy it. Remark : (as we often do ).
