Cars and one other thing I can't say are the two things that get guy's fired up. So I open this thread not for plastering fancy cars but the real cars you have owned or driven. The good, the bad and the ugly.
Cars tend to become part of your life and because they are always with you we get attached to them. I begin with the car I learnt to drive. A banged up
Hillman Avenger
then around about 1982 a Ford Cortina
Datsun 140J - Later renamed Nissan in UK
Peugeot Estate 305 deisel
Citroen BX. Yes, I am ashamed to say I had one of these ridicalous contraptions. I bought this after my venture failed and I was sort of hand to mouth. These things lie down like tired dogs and then when you start them they take a minute or so before they pump up and get ...... erect and in upright posture. I was laughed more than once in particular when one day the hydro suspension failed and all the fluid leaked from the hyrdolics. The car ended up in the scrappers. Trust me NEVER BUY A CITROEN.
Vauxall Cavalier
This brings me to about 1999. These are the cars that took me eveywhere and saw fair bit of the world in these. I will leave it there because after this my finances improved significantly so I was able to buy better cars. Anyway let us have your collection of "much loved bangers".
Oh I forget back in1987 on a visit to Pakistan for six months I got to drive this baby I got to drive this cute thing. I went everywhere from Islamabad. Muzzafarabad,AK Lahore, Peshawar, Pallandari,AK Attock and as far north as Chilas. The furthest south I went was Faisalabad. No Aair conditioning because it was a UK import and in the summer my hands got welded to the steering wheel with the heat but hey it was fun ....
The best of all was posing and giving lift to a friend who worked at a the BBC. No, no not BBC what you think but British Biscuit Company, I-9 Industrial Area, Islamabad where at least 50% of the production workers were female.
