What's new

Cars, Cars and Cars.

Does Norway have a lot of charging stations?

Yes it does (click the image to resize it).

That's the current Supercharger location map. More are planned across Europe over the course of this year, though few in Norway.

One of my lives unconsummated wish will be to have flown a jet. What thrills those guy's must get.

I do have a private pilot license so if you are ever in Canada when I'm back (which seems to be quite rare these days given the travel schedule I have right now)....I can take you around in a cessna and let you have a spot of fun with the stick once we are cruising.

Its not a jet, but still quite fun (remember we can out-turn an F-22)...and its powered unlike a glider which I have yet to surmount my caution with.

Goes all the way up to Narvik....and beyond it seems. Should be a nice ride up the coast I bet.

@Sarge I have never driven offroad. I have seen the Hummer stretched versions close up. I enjoy speed although as I got older fear has relegated the thrill factor. Nearly being banned has also tempered my driving. In my younger years I have done speeds in excess of 140mph. I did 110mph back in early 1990s along the entire stretch of A38 between Birmingham and Matlock. If anybody knows that piece of tarmac it has lots of very sharp curves. I did lot of Go Kart racing as kid. One of my lives unconsummated wish will be to have flown a jet. What thrills those guy's must get.

I just touched 190km/hr and that too in a civic 1.5 Ltr engine, like the one below.

I also had a corolla which i modified with Black top 4-AGE, 2.0 Liter petrol engine for drag racing. The brakes were useless as they were all Drum brakes. It was performance modded a bit with cool air intake, down-piping etc.
1st gear went upto 70km/hr, 2nd gear upto 120km/hr. In the end i got bored of speeding but the main issue of braking the car made me hesitate go above 160km/hr in that car.

I didnt become an aviator but i qualified for a Glider course and earned this wing to put on my right arm of uniform.

I had to complete two hours of flying to earn the wing and i did it during vacations.
Each flight was 2-3 minutes. The glider was L-23 Blanik. the instructor used to sit at the back and the trainee at front.

Those were fun days back then.

So it's people like you then? I go to my local store. I am in rush. I can't park the car because primay parking zone next (very rightly) to the entrance of the store is given to disabled. I can't park the car in the secondary parking area because it is given to parents with young kids (rightly) and now I am pushed even further because the tertiary area is given to people like you. The electric brigade with Hoovers on four wheels. Great.

I actually got into trouble last year. I parked the car where I normally park and when I came back there was this woman flailing her arms around. On asking what I ha to deserve her rude behaviour she pointed to front of where I had parked. Yes, there was that stupid contraption for charging Hoover-mobiles.

Everytime I pass the entire parking rank given to charging I cuss the Hoover owners. Yor now included in that !!!

i qualified for a Glider course
You lucky fella. Tell me more later about gliding. I have to go for now.

have a private pilot license
What the hell. You fly? You lucky sod. You kept this quite?

I learned so much about aircraft in my degree (and before and after too I guess)....I couldn't stay away from actually seeing what the real life fuss was about heh.

It's a nice ride for sure, but more people take the Hurtigruten instead and let it ferry their car north for them. Cheaper, quicker and unless you're a thrill seeker who wants to negotiate mountain passes and winding roads, much, much safer.

Stretches of the Atlantic Coastal Road look like this:o:!!

Other parts of the Atlantic road are like this:wacko:!!

Yup, I'm one of those *assholes:D. Though at the moment I fit more into the "parents with young kids" category (having given birth two months ago).

Soon every parking lot will look like this:devil:!!
Tesla-Supercharger-Nebbenes-Norway.jpeg

Most I've come across actually put the Supercharger out on the edge of the parking lot, and leaving closer spots open to normal traffic.

The Safari had the coolest automatic rear hatch door ever. The guy isn't even using the switch correctly. The glass and door can open and close simultaneously.

better video
We'd pull up to have our groceries put in by the store people and they'd be going "WOW!!!!"

I hope it is one of these below. Only thing is do you "sail" them or "drive them"? And which is front/back? Or are they ambi-directional?

And whatever @Norge Stronk is saving in carbon footprint these cars must have minused that by factor of ten.

Even today I would be tempted to say "Wow". In old days I would have "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW"

I wish I had that one but mine is 2012 and impala is 2014 for wife.

You are right about the footprint but they were not fun to drive or had value for money until Tesla. That too P100D in ludicrous mode.

I was in the US last year for AUSA 2015 as a representative from my company, and while there encountered some strange opposition to clean cars. I always splurge for a hybrid when traveling internationally and have the option of doing so and have been privy to either fascination or crap from people for it. But one instance sticks in my mind more then any other.

I was driving back to my hotel after a day at the convention and while stopped at a light a guy and wife(?) pulled up on my passenger side. He rolled down his window and yelled in my direction "hybrids are for pussies!"

He then proceeded to peel off belching black smoke from his muffler.

 Americans are strange.

I drive a Model S partially for environmental reasons, but mostly because gas taxes are terrible in Norway:wacko:. I'm not poor by any stretch, but I'm not shelling out 9 USD per gallon:o:!!

I can imagine that'd get sticky without being oiled constantly. Pretty neat though.

Americans are strange.
You can say that again. I don't know whether to hate them or laud them. In many ways they are so eerily familiar but so alien as well. For example try this logic with them "less guns > less deaths" and watch the reaction.

the phaetom is supposed to be a discrete car. when people walk past it in the street people are supposed to think meh its only a vw nothing specail. but under the bonnet (hood) theres a w12 monster.
That's true and it has a lot of precision engineering applied to its design but the interior is boring, the driving is also boring, we can say too perfect to be pretty. They spent a lot of time and money where it was not really necessary.
