Well I have been told that the dress of Hindoo Indians is Jhalwar Kameej for women. And Jhervani for men. And the mostly speak Hindi/Urdu. How is that differant from Pakistan. And if you doubt it Google "Shalwar Kameez".

This however is true on most levels but i can assure you the millennials are living a 47 if you lived a 71.

The older generation had a mythical connection to India thanks to our British way of thinking that art and theatre must be exotic in nature as well.

The migration patterns coincides with our political wisdom of the 60s to have a defence pact and the beneficiaries of the 51 Pakistan's Kennedy episode.

By the time it was 71 it was expected with a military dictator at the helm of a nation or still a young nation battling going through post natal trauma sort of limbo.

Both our POV existed the ideological days post partition. 71 saw someone taking political advantage or strategic advantage when the fish eaters went complete retard and fully give in to the concept of statehood by language. Look at what west Bengal is staring at.

Even south Indian women wear Shalwar Kameez nowadays. It has been standard in the north. Can't imagine a Punjabi woman in a sari, although they do wear it on occasion.

The adoption of a language by a people/peoples is usually done to smooth over communication and increase inter-connectivity between people who would otherwise not normally be able to understand each other's native languages. The question of how many percentage of people speak it as mother tongue is redundant in my opinion, one could ask why English is increasingly adopted by educated people of the world? The answer would be the same, albeit with global and local variations.

As for it's origins in the modern state of India and it's apparent negative bearing, I don't see how this is even a point? India and Pakistan were no doubt linked under several different empires and states over the past centuries which increased the adoption of Urdu/Hindustani and spread it's intelligibility to a lot of people in North and North western subcontinent, especially the Muslim populations who adopted it's usage due to the scholars etc using it as a mode of communication to disseminate religious/academic literature. Should be we cut off everything simply because it comes from the area that is now under the modern state of India?

In essence, it became a lingua franca of sorts for people of Pakistan to communicate with each other, this is reinforced by the fact that almost all the people of Pakistan can understand and communicate in Urdu. It has served it's purpose, barring the East Pakistan/Bangladesh episode. The question of whether it can be considered as a national language has already been answered, because it already is considered as such by 99% of the people of Pakistan.
