Can We Really Consider Urdu as a National Language of Pakistan?

. .
The official language, the language of all imperial documents, not just the court language, was Persian. Urdu was literally the language of the camp; not a language for the refined purlieus of the court. Persian ceased to be the official language only in 1832.

Don't be silly, that was meant to help and encourage. What are you apologising for??????

Yes but Persian was not used to converse with the local out of court population, Urdu as we know it today came out of this language melding

If Mughlas had beaten the Marathas then yes Indians should have spoken Chagatai Turkish..but sadly Marathas, Afghans,Persians made them rulers of just a few market areas of Delhi

But prior to that they slapped their away across india, making india a nation

.
By the same virtue India has Hindi as a mother language.

What on earth are you talking about? Hindi is equal, linguistically speaking, to other Indo-Aryan languages descended from Indo-Aryan through Prakrit.

We were discussing the reasons for Urdu being installed as the national language of Pakistan. It was not because it was the Mughal court language.

Unfortunately, it remained an empire, not a nation. It remained an empire under the Marathas as well, when they succeeded the Mughals. It remained an empire under the British. No one made it a nation except the people of free India.

Just as nobody made Pakistan a nation except the people of free Pakistan.

Even Maharashtra remained out of their reach Marathas and Deccan Sultanates resisted the Mughals bravely...and there have been other conquerors of India---both indigenous and foreign prior to the Mughals....

Sure, it was the language of the Muslim court
Persian was the language of Muslim court [Moghul]. And I also agree it is too late now. 70 years of paddling in favour of Urdu is to much now to reverse without significant cost.

Joe, I think you know the real reason. Power, privilage, vested interests.

I wanted to avoid saying that. It would've been a carping statement. But I would've loved to have shown you some hour-old writings in insaniyat; you would have liked them.

Seems like you didn't got my point. Hindi is not the national language of India even when it is spoken as mother tongue by higher percentage of population as compared to Urdu. I am just asking why is it so?

Like you don't have Hindi as national language?

Really?

Hmmm makes sense. Since you are mob masquerading as a nation.

Hmm anyhow

When we got a separate land or when we inherited ivc from the whoevers be it mughal or British. Doesn't really matter.

We set out to create not just a country but a civilization and some sort empire.

We thought everyone should speak a common language. We chose Urdu as the most significant language.

So we have Urdu. Comes from the word Ordo in Turkish. There is a town named Ordo in Turkey still.

Its meaning a place of gather and more precisely for military service.

Lol so I don't mean to scare you but that's pretty much it

I don't know. Sounds like a cheap rip off of Urdu this Hindi language of India.

Like if you say Irish is a drunken version of English.

Interesting though.

Well, when I was totally a newbee on PDF, I was impressed by your discussions which I saw (a few rare Discussion in which you were discussing with some sense). But now as I have known that you are just a troll and doesn't know how to discuss sensibly, I would just Ignore you from now own wards.

Unfortunately by choosing Urdu Pakistan took out insurance policy that assured that Pak would converge with India. Not diverge. In the long run we are all being made "Indian". Crazy Indians.

Indeed most of Pakistan is remarkably more closer to Indian then it was in 1947 and will get even more closer as we move forward. It was like we made a country in 1947 so we could arrive at the same destination as India only on a separate flight.

@Joe Shearer Yeh Joe, I would love to read them.

Don't worry about the person writing this. Focus on the words.

They remain the same.

india is more diverse than pakistan... we got sizable number of people who are from completely different language family, and wont accept hindi... india is special in this regard and not rule..
its not as if we did not try, we failed to do it.
pakistan has no such issue, most of its other languages are northern indian language, and am pretty sure most wont have hard time learning urdu (comparatively its difficult for a tamil to learn hindi).
after it lost it's eastern part(language played some role there) there is no widespread opposition to a common bridge language urdu.
tl;dr : we tried to do it and failed, pakistanis succeeded but paid high price.
