Some of the smartest people I have come across are/have been way more religious than I am and ever was. They have their way to reckon with the words in (say) the Bible, their deep faith.... and what they have come to understand in their scientific pursuits and careers. Some are still super smart too (in say practical means) without science background too.

Often in my earlier years.....I first assumed them to be agnostic or even atheist too....because I was not wise/aware to how people can be so nuanced and tempered on such matters. But there you have it, many are....me among them esp with age.

Truly the possibilities and permutations are infinite....and even finite numbers can be incredibly huge. It cannot be distilled so easily while maintaining fairness/humility. That is why an absolute reference of complete truth is something so many of us intuit....from there comes our faith and higher meaning and purpose...whatever it is.

There is a serious mob mentality problem in the subcontinent but especially in North India in the Hindi speaking belt..You see these emotions flare up when mobs get hold of truck drivers who may have run over pedestrians due to rash driving.

Though I remain an atheist nominal-Hindutvabadi, we have to peer deep into our hearts whether we can accord basic dignity to fellow human beings regardless of their religious or political persuasion

U r just barely disappointed with Modi? It was clear to me what type of a person he was based on his track record(Gujarat massacre happened under his watch and he did nothing), his close relations with RSS, etc. He came with promises of an economic miracle and quickly turned his efforts to steer ppl's attention away from domestic problems and towards creating the boogeyman of Pakistan.

All of it was quite evident from the start...idk how u guys didn't see it coming. Even after trying him for one term still the Indian masses didn't see him for who he was. I was quite surprised how the Indian masses were such fans of him...I think I had a discussion with @Joe Shearer about how Modi will successfully get reelected based on all the propaganda he has fooled the ppl with...and Joe said that ppl are waking up to it. It's too late to wake up to it now...the damage is done. The seeds of hatred that have been sown will have far reaching impact that will last for generations to come.

West Pakistan didnot have 80 million population in 1947...it was 40 million rest 40 million coming from East Pakistan...Hindus constituted 15 percent of the population in 1947 in present day West Pakistan...and as I said there may be riots in India (pogrom is only relevant in persecution of Jews), they affect a negligible miniscule protion of both the minority and majority community...The day Pakistan has 20 percent religious minority from Dharmic traditions (might as well be Buddhists,Jains,Ajivikas or Sikhs and not necessarily Hindus) is the day Pakistan can lecture India which hosts ca. 20 percent minority from Abrahamic traidtions...end of story...till then you are a monochromatic society...

It doesn't have to be Hindu population...It can be 20 percent Buddhist,Jains or Sikhs as well...no Pakistan shares an unique relationship with India and therefore it has to fulfill these conditions before it lectures or feels chastising India...till then let India's Muslims be the concern of India..thank you...without a substantial non-Abrahamic population,you donot have moral fibre to pontificate on our situation...you might have ton wait till the Sun rises in the West,the mountains turn to dust, the continents melt into lava before India breaks up
