Those were empty promises by Commies. In reality the Soviets didn't want to go to war with USA.

Well that threat alone knocked some sense into the Israelis and they agreed to come to the peace talks, without that threat there was nothing stopping them from annihilating the Egyptions. Making empty threats is one thing but than mobilizing your Armed Forces is a totally different thing, the fact that the Soviets started to mobilize their forces was a serious enough threat for the Israelis to come to the peace talks.

Same could be said about NATO risking nuclear holocaust against Warsaw Pact for the sake of Israel. In 1973, the Soviets had conventional superiority against NATO opposite of Fulga Gap and NATO was **** scared of a massive Soviet invasion because they were outgunned by Warsaw Pact soldiers. The Soviets airlifted and sea lifted massive supplies to Egypt and Syria, that should tell you that they had Egypts back.

During the war itself the last one was F-4 shot down by Syrian MiG-21 on 21 Oct. But there were loses in 1974 as well, because low level conflict continued for several monthes. Need to search.

Hatif on deputation to Egyptian Air Force (EAF) was flying a EAF MiG-21 in a defensive combat air patrol (CAP) over Egypt when he was vectored towards an intruding Israeli Air Force (IDF/AF) F-4 Phantom. In the ensuing dogfight, Flt. Lt. M. Hatif shot down the Israeli Phantom.

Why it is that us Pakistanis have to fight Arab wars,

But when it comes to our country, we don't expect the same from our so-called "brothers".

Instead ARab extremists in FATA are blasting away our soldiers, our men, women and children turning our beautiful country into a copy of a pathetic hellhole not too different from the Yemeni Arab land or Somalian African land.

It is time we thought of Pakistan first. Arabs think of themselves first. Why can't we? Are we too stuck in some 1400 years stories of Ali baba chalees chor?

Maybe because you guys had the experince, and offered to help, or we asked you to help, it doesn't matter, it was done anyway... Btw, do you know that most of the Arab countries are suffering from terrorists just like you guys ?..... I am not Saudi, but from what i know, they helped pakistan during some difficult time, and they helped Egypt too if i am not mistaken....
