Bush era warmth over? US seen drifting from India

Dont worry..most of the Indians who 'troll' (yes I said troll) in the media are dyed in the wool leftists and JNU passouts in whose vocabulary US means evil/imperialist and the US actions must be condemned at all cost even if it means spiting yourselves.

For them US opposing Palestine or attacking Iraq is a much more life changing moment that Bush 'legitimizing' Indian nuclear weapons and opening a door to an organization that itself was created to keep India out of nuclear trade without compromising on our strategic programme and one which we desperately need to meet our ever growing energy needs.

This NAM charade has gone for long and even the recent UN seat for Palestine laid bare the fact that India is still caught in the socialist pre-1991 mindset. I hope soon the Indian MEA comes out of this cocoon and defines a place for itself in this world ratehr than remaining wishy washy non-comittal in international politics.

This is not a Bush eulogy..Sure he did some unsavoury things in the rest of the globe...but my point is why should i as an Indian care about that if he was beneficial to my country ?

Karthik you can't completely lay the blame on people, you see this is something that has to start at grass roots level. I being from Andhra have seen from my childhood how the communist parties used to make bandhs regularly and start altercation where ever business could flourish. At that time poverty was much prevelant than now, what could the illiterate rickshaw pullers or daily workers do rather than being mesmerised by their hartals and other nara's ?? The elderly still carry some sort of romance for communists and Russia(which i have too i must admit, not for communist policies but for saving our *** and being our longtime friend) too.

Its only when business started developing and education became more available and lots of people went to West or into IT to North or Bangalore that people's ideas changed. Even today the communists have some weight in my home town, but not to the scale of what they had in my childhood. Also our media is one big $hit hole. They don't know what to glorify and what to suppress.

I don't know why people make such a big issue out of nothing.

In international diplomacy, every gesture is scrutinized in microscopic detail. Eye contact, body language, hand shake, body posture etc of world leaders kinda governs their relations and subsequently the relations of their respective countries.

It is indeed sad that Obama who was elected with such fanfare, turned out to be a damp squib, just an ordinary president. Inspite of having the majority sometime before, he could not get bills passed. And now that the GOP controls both the houses, the speaker of the house of representatives flatly refuses to even hear the President. Obama has lost clout in his own country's legislature. Obama has misplaced priorities. Brushing aside India is one such. Pandering to Pakistan is another. Hopefully, Cain or even Romney will fare better.
