It is said that Adi Shankara is said to have studied at Sharada Peeth. It played a key role in the popularisation of the Sharada script during that time. India also has a university in Noida after the same name.

In those times, most of such schools of learning were located in serene and scenic places, away from the buzz of civilization. Almost all such places, which I have visited in Pakistan, qualify this criteria.
