Three Hawn rockets fell on Monday in a desert area near the northern border area of Jadida Arar, but caused no injuries or damages, a spokesman of the Border Guards has revealed.
An investigation has been launched to identify the source of the rockets, Maj. Mohammed Al-Ghamdi, the spokesman, told Arab News.
He said security forces are prepared to protect all the country’s borders. This includes tackling smugglers on the southern border and dealing with any fallout arising from the Iraq crisis.
He said smugglers had tried to bring record amounts of hashish into the country from Yemen since the start of Ramadan, but were foiled.
Abdullah bin Mahfouz, spokesman of the Border Guards in Jazan, told Arab News the situation is under control on the southern border but officers are on alert for any eventuality, including drugs and weapons smugglers, infiltrators, and terrorists.
Shoura Council President Abdullah Al-Asheikh and Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Iyad Madani have condemned Saturday’s terrorist attack at Sharura border that killed four cops.
Interior Minister Prince Mohammed bin Naif has issued directives to disburse financial aid to the families of the slain policemen. Each family will receive SR1 million, in addition to SR100,000. The minister also ordered rank promotions for the officers. Each of them will receive a king’s medal and an honorary degree.
Meanwhile, a criminal court sentenced four citizens to jail terms for trying to go to Iraq to join fighting there and for supporting Al-Qaeda’s operations abroad, an official report said. The four, one of whom was sentenced in absentia, were given prison sentences of two years to five years and six months, the SPA said. They were also banned from travel for specific periods.

Both areas have mainly fertile pastoral lands but Arar is surrounded by more highlands, valleys and hills while Hafar al-Batin is mostly flat. All of Northeastern KSA are mostly flat. Unlike all other areas of the country outside the coastal regions of the Eastern Province.

Arar is famous for its flooding each year and snowfall during winter.

When I referred to the French Revolution (and when people usually do that when speaking about drastic changes) they refer to the rapid changes that occurred which changed the French society fundamentally. Not necessarily mass-executions etc.
Eventually what happened was the end of the Ancien Régime despite later attempts of restoring the Bourbon Dynasty (1815-1830) and later one of its branches the House of Orléans (1830-1848) gaining power during the uprisings in 1830 across Europe.

Later a cousin of Napoleon (Napoleon II) ruled from 1848-1870. After that period ended France has been a republic ever since.

I am not a leftist first of all FaujHistorian. It's not that I am politically active but if I should define myself on a European politically platform then it would be conservative liberalism.

I already partially answered @anonymus and wrote what I meant with my "French Revolution" example but basically I just want to see drastic social and political changes in the region.

Also currently I do not see how this can happen on a large scale without either of those 2 scenarios unfolding to various degrees or a combination of both:

1. A large war (not difficult to guess what it is based on = sectarianism, resources, politics, nationalism) as seen in Europe (WW1 and WW2) that would force the countries of the ME region to cooperate and form political and economical organizations like EU, NATO or otherwise a similar thing would potentially happen again.

2. Something like the French Revolution. I had initially hopes of the Arab Spring being something similar but we saw how that turned out in most countries. Only Tunisia, Yemen and partially Libya are "success" stories. Egypt too. Or at least it can become that but all 4 countries must be given time as this is a very long process. In fact "success stories" are probably way too optimistic and naive.

Look at France. In 1789 the French Revolution began but it was not until 1870 that France really became a Republic ruled by the people as we know it today.

Three shells land in northern Saudi town of Arar
No casualties reported in the incident which comes two days after bombers blew themselves up

Two days after two suspected Al Qaida militants blew themselves up after being trapped inside a government building in southern Saudi Arabia, three shells landed in northern Saudi Arabia. No casualties were reported.

According to media spokesperson of Saudi Border Guards, the shells landed in a residential complex in Arar at 1.30pm.

Arar is located near the border with Iraq where the Baghdad government is fighting the militants who are holding territory they seized in northern and west of the country.

Meanwhile, Al Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) claimed responsibility for Saturday’s attack on the Saudi border post and released photographs of their preparation for the terrorist attack, Al Arabiya News website reported.

The images, which appeared to be still grabs from a video, show the faces of some militants and the launching of a Grad missile toward a border crossing between Saudi Arabia and Yemen.

In one of the pictures, the militants are being trained by a Yemeni militant leader in a desert area. One of two militants who blew themselves up on Saturday at a Saudi security building appears in another picture, smiling and carrying a Kalashnikov. He is known as Ayoub Al Suweid, and has been on an interior ministry’s wanted list for the past two years, the website reported.

Good point, but at a point somebody will have to do the job, countries like Turkey, KSA and Iran will be targeted as soon as they get some breathing space in Iraq and Syria.
Even though these countries have a huge firepower, then as you say car bomb and suicide attack will have a vast psychological effect on the population of these countries.
