RTNN,Newsdesk: Issuing a strong note of warning against the opposition leader, PM Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday asked BNP chief Khaleda Zia to remain silent as she has failed to stop the election.

“You (Khaleda) should remain silent now as you’ve failed to stop the election. Don’t cause sufferings to people. You didn’t take part in the election, that’s fine. But, you have to stop the oppression and torture on the minorities and the general voters, or else, we’ll have to take necessary actions, stern actions,” the Awami League Chief said.

She made the statement on Tuesday evening during a meeting of the 14-party alliance at her official residence Ganobhaban.

Hasina also said her government would launch massive operations and warned that people involved in heinous acts would be awarded appropriate punishment.

She said the people won't compensate for BNP's political mistake.

Earlier, Hasina congratulated her allies for the victory in the 10th parliamentary elections.

She called upon the media to play a positive role in highlighting the 'good' and downplaying the 'bad'.
