For a smart person like you to imply that every foreigner residing in their adopted homeland should completely tow the official policies is below you. Have you checked out the 'Comments' in NY Times coverage of the current Venezuelan crisis? Or the coverage in the American Conservative Amconmag.com (Patrick J. Buchannan's site)? The former is a bastion of liberalism while the latter is that of the old-fashioned conservatism. But both are very much against American interference in Venuezuela.
It's sad that people single out immigrants for expressing views contrary to their adopted homeland's official (and often wrong) policies. The doors to Fascism and even lynching opens via such expectations.
