Actually they lost key hours of war.
It is two nights which they are marching for war and these 48 hours gave Syrian army and resistance enough time to prepare for upcoming attack.
Forces disappeared and critical equipment already moved to Russian bases.

Satellite photos of Russian naval base in Tartus, Syria show all 11 Russian battle ships have left Syria. Perhaps to avoid being sitting ducks as rhetoric between Trump and Russia escalates.

I wonder if their holding back until the Truman carrier group arrives next week. I believe 4 destroyers and a cruiser are deploying with Truman. That's a lot more options for the Pentagon at its disposal.

I know the deployment has been long planned, but if you're planning to strike a broad range of targets you've got to have more than a couple destroyers on station. It sounds like they want these strikes to have a higher impact this time around.
