Yes it can be a response similar to last years but if they say something I would think again that opposite would happen and not drop down the guard. They can strike for example unprotected Hezbollah positions to create rift with Syria and Iran when everyone believes it finished or similar escalation measures can still follow.
It would be best to supply Syria with temporary additional air defense assets by Russia until things cool down for a short while to block such further action.

Yesterday they were saying sarin now chlorine and sarin maybe tomorrow it will be something else. Ocpw should be allowed to do their work but with Syrian Russian officials recording whole process to ensure something is not added to the scene or samples not changed. Also the victims autopsy would reveal what is used and how(skin ,inhalation) and when. Proving that is made by an air launched strike is another matter Syrian side possibly has relative evidence that is not the case.
