What's new

Bollywood by Pakistani Student

No, not really, the last time i saw an indian film was "Mein Ho Na" when it first came out some 7 years ago but even in their sushmita sen was acting slutty, and so was that other girl (forgot her name).

Here, look at this song from "Mein Ho na":

Now you tell me, i thought Mein Ho na would be a decent film, but even in their slutty behavior prevails.

This was the last full bollywood movie I watched.

Which is why a lot of Arabs watch them. indians think their films are popular because they are "original" :-)rofl:) when in fact they are only watched due to the pornographic nature. Every bollywood film coming out these days is a copy of another film from some foreign country, all they have to offer is scantily dressed women dancing in large groups, now is that something to be proud of? not really, unless of course indians are proud of portraying their women as $luts, sk@nks, and party whores.

But hey, whatever floats their boat.

Why just Arabs , Bollywood is popular in Iran , Afghanistan even during the Taleban regime , pirated DVDs of Bollywood films were a rage during the ban period in Pakistan . So despite all claims of so called "civilized and conservative " Islamic society as contrasted with "Indian Shamelessness " what are we to presume ?

That underneath all your vociferous declarations and pretensions of conservatism , the truth is Pakistani/Arab/Middle-eastern societies are sexually starved and repressed and the lack of liberalism in your homelands drives you to seek alternative forms of entertainment a.k.a Bollywood fare including excess of skin and nudity.

Its strange because Hollywood films have had overtly sexual overtones for ages , yet we hardly see anyone complain about "western film culture" corrupting Pakistani values etc.

There is a lot more to Indian films than just "half-naked" girls as someone pointed out , but sadly the creativity of Indian directors , the acting abilities of our actors are all ignored by those apprehensive of so-called "cultural invasion"...

Saying it is enough, putting up explicit links isn't right. There is a lot more that can be put up for you Indians.

how right you are !!! i mean its one thing to watch bollywood movies in the privacy of your home , but god forbid you have to admit to actually liking them . even on a forum where you are generally anonymous.

we never came up trying to be moral police accusing you of making soft ****, or even defending Indian cinema's so called soft **** movies.. So go ahead and post away.. However it was Pakistani members going all holier than thou about how Indian cinema is so low character and full of nudity.. But you know what's worse than soft ****?? Wanna be soft **** ;) .. And thats what Jayron posted..

prove it or its false . Not more than 5-10 indian movies each year that come out out of 100s are copied form the west or anywhere else .

right, and i'm supposed to believe that. There is not a single original story line or plot in indian films, either they are the same "love, dance around a tree, pita jee doesn't accept boy or girl, and then fighting, and finally pita jee accepts" or a copy of a film from abroad.

Heck, even the scenery and setting in indian films takes place abroad in foreign countries. Nothing original.

Prove it or you will be proven a liar . Quick . Get cracking .

Then prove me a liar lolz.

if a single song of 5 minutes in a 3 hr movie make that movie slutty then i think Pakistanis don't like hollywood movies at all

I have no issues with liking or disliking Indian cinema. Where its good, I'll say its good. Where its not - its not. I have a serious problem with them copying our songs left, right and center - and a lot of Indians get annoyed or defensive about it. But its how I see it.

Pakistanis don't have their own cinema up to a decent standard. A few good films a year is all that we can muster up, that too in the past 10 years or so. From what I hear from the regular bollywood watchers its probably slightly better than that from India.

Personally I've always liked Indian comedy - than action, romance and the oh so dreaded new phenomenon - Indian SCI FI.

Let's just remember, appreciating the arts shouldn't be mixed with national or political issues. I've grown up watching American TV - I still do. (Cinema too, but not as much as TV). I should have been Americanized and like the many "Thallay lagi hui Pakistani kaum" when it comes to America. Pakistanis have been watching Indian cinema since the country was made. It just shows we don't have blind hatred for Indians rather some serious issues.

Actually, that's what I wrote early on:

I don't feel it's right for us to comment. If Indians are happy with their society producing these films, that's fine.

And let's not forget that Lollywood is not much better. Gone are the days of Waheed Murad and Shabnam, of Ahmad Rushdi and Mehdi Hasan. Lollywood also churns out vulgar soft **** these days.

It's not about moral policing. It's about removing the pretension that Bollywood provides high art, when all it does -- all it ever CLAIMS to do -- is deliver light entertainment. For women, it gives emotional thrills; for men, the other kind.

Bollywood is watched by young girls, Star Plus is watched by aunties. It's all for the melodrama, not for any real entertainment value.

watching public flogging is not our kind of entertainment so melodrama and whatever entertainment it providesis good for us... I really really really hope Indian entertainment are banned in pakistan soon...

there is a very large variety provided by bollywood , if you are so disgusted with melodrama and scantily clad women, watch satyajit ray movies..

90% of what you say copied Pakistani songs , belong to Mahesh Bhatt films.

Pakistan artists don't make hue & cry about it likes the Jingos here, 'cause Mahesh Bhatt promises them profit money or an Bollywood assignment.

We are not forcefully imposing bollywood on Pak society.........Bollywood is in pakistan purely for business purpose and i guess they are doing well, gaining popularity, have good market share and fan following is increasing day by day

It't not a question of being disgusted. It's about removing pretentions about Bollywood's popularity.

Do you honestly think the vast majority of Bollywood fans have even heard of SR?

Again, I am not denying that Bollywood has good directors; just like Hollywood has good directors. But that's not why most people watch Bollywood.

while Pakistan makes movies according to islamic values like these

NOTE: the second video is a copy of an Indian song video.

I feel rise of Nitric Oxide in my body after watching the songs ;)

very few pakistan songs have been copied anyways . a miniscule number and how do we know the India music directors don't do it without the Pakistani's permission ?

Secondly the entire lollywood movie formula is copied from india and i was watching this pakistani reality show called 'Living on the edge' ( 'Living on the Adge' according to the shows host ) which is a blatant copy of the Indian "original" show called MTV roadies . so this copying stuff goes both ways .
