What is the use of India's big military budget when the generals and politicians eat up half the military purchase money and deprive the poors in the street in the process? Do not worry about BN. It will buy whatever its strategists think it should. BN is right now trying to select the venue for the submarines. What is the problem if the subs are Ming or Song because ours is a defensive force, although I prefer Song. Anyway, the way the GoB is withholding the submarine purchase information, I suspect it is Song. GoB does not want to alert its neighbours prematuredly, perhaps.

You buy Gallardo only after you secure your financial and social securities, not the other way around. With a GDP per capita of around $800, you are a long way away from that point.

Do not think about things that are beyond your level of intellectual comprehension.

With the re based GDP soon, BD GDP capita will be over 900 dollars and will surpass 1000 mark in a year or two.

GDP is forecast to grow at a healthy 6-7% a year till the end of the decade, so BD will have little problem purchasing submarines that would not have to be wholly paid for till the later part of this decade.

If the U-214 is really 400 million dollars a piece, then BD should purchase two of them soon and arrange payment over several years as is the case with most defence procurement deals.

Military budget for social welfare?

Indian armed forces has to maintain more than 2.62 million active troops and 2 million reserve personnel (including paramilitary), about 3600 tanks, 1900 aircrafts and around 600 helicopters, 170 ships.

Anyway, it's not India we are talking about.

It is confirmed that Bangladesh is getting 2 Type 035B(Ming Class) submarines from China by 2016.

Sir, With Due Respect, which subs are you talking about??

If you are talking about Akula - II, than i must tell you that there is no History of any nation giving a SSN to any other nation. India has bought Akula-II for $600+ million on 10 years lease b'coz of the fact that Russia is a signatory of NPT, which don't allow transfer/selling of Nuclear submarines but there is no provision about LEASE, so lease was based on the technicalities of NPT otherwise i have no doubt why India couldn't buy it.

As is the case there is also a provision of it's renewal/purchase after the 10 year period expires.

BTW, please request you to get back to the topic which is BN purchasing 2 submarines.

It is not about the Budget it is about the Bangladesh getting the offers to induct sub into their fleet.
