BJP chief claims English bad for India, triggers outrage

The problem is they are the dominant culture and has a LONG history of destroying other cultures.

European culture (westernization) has already eaten an Digested more cultures all over the world than you can even imagine. Entire cultures of North America, South America, Africa and Australia was eaten up and digested by European culture. That is 4 CONTINENTS, if you still do not understand then god help you.
desi people are most resistant to outside culture.. I would welcome more influence of western culture in India.. less lies, more individualism but having a sense of citizenship at same time.. more equality (alien concept to Indian culture) .. etc

I don't hate any Indian languages. But what Indian language has the knowledge especially scientific knowledge comparable to English?

how can they when we dont use them for technical study... So first cut a person's legs, and then condemn him for not running the race:hitwall:

south Indians won't accept it

who told you south indians wont accept sanskrit?one should not make comments on issue which they dont have knowledge about.majority of south is hindu and they hold sanskrit in high respect.except for some desh drohis and muslims ,no one would object for sanskrit.but i feel english should also be given importance .

Are you claiming Europeans tell less lies, are more individualistic and treat others as their equals ?

..........god help you ............. .............I have nothing more to say to you.

Wikipedia provides a generic meaning and some substantiation, what does the fellow in question mean when he uses the said term, what is he alluding to? A surrender of complete social identity, or something as menial as celebrating New year's eve?

Since you are so good at imagining cooked up meanings .....why don't you just cook up something nasty about what he 'may' have 'implied' and spare us this tripe.

rajnath is not refering to anything like that.. they are fed on an idea of 'golden age of India' where everything was just awsome.. and if only we go back to that age.. we will be awsome again... and start with 'purifying our society' first..

too bad.. indians have moved from that anti English rhetoric, middle class (BJP's main support base) wont buy it, nor the poor.

I don't profess to read minds. Nor was the original question aimed at you, so you're already spared.
@hinduguy More westernization should not mean that people should be unaware of our own tropes, cultural practices. What one chooses at the end of the day is their individual prerogative, but its not too much to ask for for people to at least educate themselves between their choices. They need not subscribe to one world view in all matters, the West got somethings right and so did we, in fact we had some pretty good stuff going before they'd gotten down to abstaining from pushing people into bogs as a form of worship. At least be aware of what this land and its history have to offer in terms of philosophy and custom before making a choice, no?

You will be surprised at how many from the middle class are buying it. The time of blind adoration of everything "phoren" is gone and it is not coming back.

.......cool .......but unfortunately Indians have not 'moved too far from that anti Englishi rhetoric' ............we still have no become Europeans who tell less lies, are more individualistic and treat everybody as equal.

That is our ultimate goal .........become like the people you 'admire' ...... ........after all imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
