The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) stopped the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) from illegally installing barbed wire fence along Hili border in Dinajpur on Tuesday.

At this time, additional personnel were deployed on the border by the two forces.

Later, when a flag meeting was held between them, the situation calmed down after BSF agreed to stop the work, BGB's Hili ICP Camp Commander Saidul Islam confirmed the matter to Bangla Tribune.

According to BGB and local sources, BSF started the installation of pillars to fence with barbed wire at noon.

However, they started working in the area adjacent to the border pillar without complying with the international law of the border which stated that no construction can be done within 150 yards of “no man's land”. When the incident came to the attention of BGB, they stopped BSF from doing this, causing tension between the two forces.

Later, a 10-minute long flag meeting was held between the two forces at around 2:45pm. The meeting was chaired by BGB's Hilli ICP Camp Commander Subedar Saidul Islam on behalf of BGB and BC Josi, India's Hilli BSF Camp Commander on behalf of BSF.

Once I was very familiar with the Hilli station. When running from Poradaha station toward Saidpur station, the left of the railroad almost immediately meets the BD-Indian borderline in Hili.

India must build the fence 150m away from this borderline.

Will take it as a win. But they will be back again for sure.

Mr. Cyril Radcliffe was very miserly in allocating land for East Bengal in 1947. Indian border run just outside of the Hili railway station. Given that it is the main railway line connecting North Bengal with the rest of the country, he should have given at least a few km buffer between the border and the railway line. A few km of this rail-line run parallel to the Indian border only a few dozen yards from the zero line! I don't know in which sense he made this arrangement. His only benevolence to East Bengal was giving Chittagong hill Tracts. His main concerns were Calcutta and Hugli river system should be in India without any shortcomings and there should be a land corridor to connect Indian mainland with North Eastern India, he achieved these goals at the expense of East Bengal.

I felt other way. He actually helped BD.
Parts of Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong went to BD instead of Malda and Murshidabad. Area wise you gained a lot more.
He ensured that BD has another international boundary other than India

According to 1941 census Muslims were 49.36% percent of population of Khulna district. A few decimal points short of majority could be a statistical fluke and Khulna needed to place with the same jurisdiction that obtained Jessore due to communication, economy and other factors. So, it was most logical to place Khulna in East Bengal with or without factoring Murshidabad. There was widespread understanding that Hindu majority Khulna was exchanged for Muslim Majority Murshidabad. But Hindu majority in Khulna was a fluke while Muslim majority in Murshidabad was solid. In any impartial partition, East Bengal should have got all of Murshidabad and at least half of Khulna. But it did not happen.

Moreover, Nadia and Malda district were solid Muslim majority, yet most of these two district were placed in West Bengal. He even divided Muslim majority district of Dinajpur and Jessore and gave a part of them to West Bengal. This is in addition of the fact that the capital and largest city of British India, Calcutta, which flourished mainly by utilizing the resources of East Bengal was given to West Bengal. Calcutta city was Hindu majority but it's surrounding areas were Muslim majority and could have easily made part of East Bengal. There was talk of making Hugli river the boundary between East and West Bengal, so that Calcutta become part of East Bengal and Howra become part of West Bengal. It would have been a fair partition.

So, East Bengal lost the capital, Calcutta, in addition to big and fertile Muslim majority districts of Murshidabad, Nadia and Malda and part of Dinajpur and Jessore. On the other hand it only got hilly, jungle of Chittagong Hill Tract(CHT). CHT is land-locked, hilly and spersely populated district, it's transport connection and economy was totally dependent on neighboring Muslim majority Chittagong district and port. It was not contiguous with West Bengal and it had no access from Assam. So it was only logical to place it in East Bengal.

Mr. Radcliffe has given the largest city of British Raj to West Bengal as well as three big fertile Muslim majority Districts and part of two other Muslim majority districts. In compensation, he only gave East Bengal a hilly, jungle district which was no use for India. So how is this division fair in any way for East Bengal?

we should start shooting them.
You can wish that but the reality is, it is always BSF that got their *** handed to them by BDR/BGB whenever a serious clash happened. You can read about serious clashes that happened in 2001 and 2005-2006 period. Many BSF soldiers were killed during that times. BSF enjoys manpower and arms advantage at border, yet it is BDR/BGB which prevailed in battles.

Yeah that's why when we regularly shoots Bangladeshi pole vaulters BGB just stand their moot to collect dead bodies.

We sent 16 body bags back to India last time BDR/BGB raised guns in 2001.

Your drunk BSF Jawans are only good for killing unarmed civilians, including children. Looks like you are very proud of that achievement.

It is Hasina Bibi who does not want border trouble/ shootings with both India and Burma. She has reasons to believe that the BD-India border must be kept peaceful.

Our BDR/ BGB troops have to obey political decisions. But, go to past border clashes before trying to negate my views here.

16 body bags story is the Indian version of the 2001 border clash. BD also accepted it. But, the actual death figure was 97 IA plus BSF troops killed in the Boroibari clash.

By military rule, a wounded or dead soldier must be taken away by the living troops. This is the rule for any military. Most bodies were carried away by the IA troops. Only 16 bodies could not be carried away that remained left on our soil.

Mr. Radcliff never had came to India before, neither he has any idea about the locality. On what basis he draw the lines its a total Mistry.

1. Khulna - It has a continuous landmass with that of 24 PGS. My family has donated the land for Hijli sariff (costal Midnapore) and my ancestors used to trade with people in Khulna.
2. Murshidabad - It has also a slight majority 56% for Muslims, just 6% more, not a thumping majority like Bogra.
3, Malda - It has also a slight majority 56% for Muslims, just 6% more. The district was bifurcated on religious lines.
4. Nadia - The district was bifurcated on religious lines, Hindu majority Krishnanagar, Nabadwip, Ranaghat went to India. Mind Krishnanagar, Nabadwip is the Mecca Medina of Vaishnavas.
5. Calcutta - Its surrounded by Howrah, Hoogly, 24 Pgs which has 19%, 15% and 33% Muslims. It was surrounded by districts with thumping Hindu Majority.
6. Chittagong - Was ruled by Tripura for long starting from 15th century. See the geography, again it is continuous with Tripura. Read the writings of RN Tagore. He considered Chittagong as extension of Tripura.
