@The Eagle @waz @WebMaster Mod's I am not pointing any name here. A lot of people wouldn't even have gone through that particular thread which I am vaguely referring, also half of the comments of that thread are already removed. So there is no naming or shaming in my post.

Today, I had a discussion with a db(you can consider that as dumb b*tch, douche-bag, or just database of knowledge), it's upto anyone's interpretation. The guy literally called me pee brain, retarded, insecure, and couple of other things which I forgot and those comments were removed by a mod and I on the other hand was being told that I was in the wrong. All because I argued that in my opinion MMA, boxing and muay thai were respectable for me(there might be a couple more but these are the main styles that I prefer).

As, I am a strong opponent of bullshido and different bs styles. I want to discuss with all, which fighting style is the best in actual real street fighting. I am not going to argue with a particular style teaching you breathing techniques or meditation, its mainly street fighting.

Now I know there are unified rules of MMA, there are rules of boxing, there are rules of Muay thai, but the main question is which style helps the most in an actual street fight. In actual street fight without weapons you ignore those rules and your positioning is what matters. And with muay thai, mma and boxing, there is a little to no openings for the opponents to strike. All it takes is one good punch, a kick, knee or an elbow to break someone's nose or break a jaw or complete knock down.

When a person comes upto me and tells me that he has spent 5 years training ninjutsu and he knows "the way of the samurai". To me he either trolling or the he is just a ____.

Now I know there was no MMA in Bruce lee era, but to me and many others he is the founder of MMA. He was a practitioner of wing chun, taught by his great master Ip man(Yip-man), but after a fight in San Franciso where he had an encounter, where he chased a guy, he punched him on the behind of his head and back. Soon his fists began to swell from hitting his hard head and then he realized, wing chun was not too practical and he had to alter his ways. Later on he converted his style from wing chun to jeet kune do (the way of intercepting fists)

Now I am a realist, I don't go into fantasy, well at-least when it comes to street fighting. Now if a person asks you to fight with a weapon what would you rather bring? a gun, a bazooka or a samurai sword because you follow the way of the samurai or do you prefer shurikens because you wasted 5 years of your life in training ninjutsu?

Again this is not a hatred thread against some one. This is just calling out bs a bs.

Now there are some kung fu, wing chun etc. masters out there that are really good. But majority of them are all bs and I feel sorry for a person that tries to defend one particular style because he unfortunately wasted 5 years in it. There is unnecessary pride in some of the practitioners of old school fighting styles.

And a request to mod's if they want to remove some words from this then do so, but please do not remove the essence of this whole conversation. I am already sad that I was being pointed out by a mod in my last conversation on this topic when the other guy literally used pee brain, retarded etc words like that.

Not tagging any one other than mods because I don't know who might find this worth discussing.

wow nothing happened, may I need 5 years to master the secret arts. /s

Stick to Boxing and learn a couple of simple leg kicks and you wont go wrong

Being able to fight is more about your physical fitness and your courage/balls

A lot of the people practicing traditional martial arts do very, very little sparring. Bruce Lee already pointed this out decades ago but few listen.

For self defense, number one rule walk away while you can. Number two rule walk away while you can. Number three rule walk away while you can. You will thank yourself for having the wisdom to walk away.

Fighting in a ring is simple its a controlled environment

The ref will step in and stop you getting a real beating or hurt

Street fighting is dangerous there are many unknown variables
Like weapons
Hard floor
Curbs
Things being thrown
His friends jumping in

The best self defence is WALK AWAY

The only reason you wouldnt is IF YOU HAVE NO CHOICE AND ARE FORCED TO PROTECT YOURSELF OR YOUR LOVED ONE

Then hit back hard and fast, the quicker you can strike, take them down and hit them hard
the quicker you finish the fight and get yourself out

The ONLY other time you would fight is if you want to becausr you want to hurt someone

.
Don't fight at all . What if other person is armed with a pistol knife or something else in fight even keys can work as knife

yup, that's how animals survive in the world. If you know that you are equal in strength or are weak you just run away. I wouldn't suggest the same if you are at the point of strength, most likely the opponent will back down if you come close, if not then you gotta do what you gotta do.

If you don't look for fights, you are unlikely to get in to any. If you are an alert person, you will get out of the situation before it gets worse.

Best defence in no weapon situation is running. Build your stamina so that you can run for miles.

Wth,,,guy asks about effective fighting style.
****** as usual give thr typical advice of running away.
Listen dude,,,dont listen to these bhagora kind.
U dont learn fighting to run away,,,u learn it to stand ur ground.
First decide what u wanna learn,,,,to survive or to fight.

I wouldn't travel in India without a basic knowledge of self defence, especially if I were female. Y'know, risk of rape and all that. Come to think of it, I would also carry any weapon that is permitted if i were in India.

Good post, learning to defend yourself is no laughing matter, and if you are not training in a battle tested style/art/sport then you are deluding yourself.

The above clips is simply China catching on late. However a fair few Kung-fu practitioners have evolved and Sanda and San Shou has been around for quite a while now.

Of course there are traditional arts who never 'lost' their way and are by far the most battle tested around and are brutally effective in combat scenarios e.g. Judo, Kyokushin karate etc.
By no means an exhaustive list i.e. they can be found in most countries, but the most tried arts/styles that are great for defending oneself are;

Brazilian Jujitsu
Judo
Kyokushin karate
Western boxing
Muay Thai
Wrestling both Greco or Freestyle
Kick boxing i.e. above hips ISKA

.
1. Boxing
2. Muay Thai
3. Grappling/Wrestling
4. Brazilian Jujitsu

That should do the trick. As a former amateur boxer I will always be biased toward boxing.

The opportunity to knock someone out as a stand up/striker is such an advantage.

However learn the art to kick/knee will be an immense bonus and ultimately if striking fails, the ability to take some one down and choke or pound will give u super skills

No matter how good you are, 20 guys with machetes will get you eventually unless you can run!

Fighting should be the very last option. Just like pulling the pistol out should only be to pull the trigger, not to wave it around!

I know how to fight and I conceal carry when back home. And I would still recommend running/walking away from the situation. It's very easy killing a person over ego!
