Begining of the end of free internet

As long as the ********* hold up its flag up high, internet is always gonna be free :)

I disagree with the whole stealing thing to begin with,is it stealing to watch a dvd that your friend bought but you didn't pay for?
Also I overheard someone blasting Eminem over their mp3 player, man I must be a hardcore felon. Hope the coppers never catch me :smokin:

But the question I have for you is that, what about people who live in countries where this content is not available?
TV shows and movies don't come out in many countries and the only way for those people to watch it is to watch it online.
Now theft means that you are taking, in this case money, from the content producer but if the content producer was never going to make that money in the first place then is it still theft?

This is a case where every one's argument can be right. Both Chogy and Asim Aquil have their valid points. I'm with you because I think the artists and their sponsors made adequate profits on their regular channels already, they can treat these giveaways as advertizements. As you said they lost nothing anyway.

oh man this is starting to piss me off if these guys keep it then we will have to go to the underworld of internet;)

This is the classic tap dance done by intellectual thieves. "I wasn't going to buy it regardless, so I'm not hurting anybody."

That's a cop-out. How about simply respecting the person who poured sweat and effort into something for years?

It's symptomatic of a lack of civility and courtesy these days. "Screw it, I'm going to do it because I want to, and to <blank> with the morals of it all."

I recommend you re read what I wrote because it is a legitimate question.
I currently live in a country where many of my favorite shows never air and there is no way for me to "legally" view it.
The only option I have is to watch it online.
Tap dance or not, there is no way for me to give them any money, and that is their fault and not mine.

FREE stuff would remain available to those who know how to find it

Intellectual property is only piratable as long as it remains static. The software industry has already made their software more dynamic by shifting to the Cloud model.

For example you can't pirate Defence.pk in the sense you can't simply load a copy of all our posts on your website and think you have content worth sharing. Our model is that we have thousands of active users that make it interesting in itself to come here and interact with.

Have you seen alternative ending movies? I am expecting that technology would evolve to a point where there would be millions of story archs that would be possible to explore and specialized content would be viewable directly to the end user who can view an ending or an entire story slightly modified to better suit the end user's life experiences. This specialized ending can only be served say by a server running algorithms at the cinema which is hooked up to a central database from where the ending can be downloaded from. To make matters more interesting perhaps through specialized "movie suits" that you wear every person at the "movies" will get their own customized movie experience.

This complexity makes it harder if not impossible to pirate. For example you can't pirate a roller coaster ride, the same way when movies evolve so much perhaps you won't be able to do that either.

Speaking of roller coaster rides, the Ferrari World at Abu Dhabi actually gave me a 4D Cinema experience specialized custom experiences. Before the movie starts (where we get the views of a race care we get the option of driving with windows down or up, individually). So when the car hits a puddle, nozzles on our seat would squirt a tiny bit of water to simulate a splash and of course fans would blow winds from the appropriate angles. The guy next to me could have had different options.

You guys should google the term "Experience economy".

But coming back to Chogy's point. Ethics are important and it should remain as the primary reason to not be involved in piracy. But I think since its is almost impossible for anyone to afford everything legally, its about time we reduced our consumption of such 'products' and learned to live without them.

There are free alternatives available for everything known as protected under IPR. TV shows - Hulu, music - youtube, software - open source. So you should promote things that are free to begin with. In so many cases Open Source and free things are at par or far exceed their paid counterparts.

1) Obtain envelope and stamp
2) Identify address of those who worked hard for your free entertainment
3) Get cash
4) Insert cash in envelope; seal
5) insert in nearest mailbox

Cute. This is about the third time you've strung together these emoties.

Note that your terrorist idiot with the bandanna is firing thousands of rounds at the American flag and the guy who holds it. yet nothing happens. We could come back in 4 years, and your terrorist idiot would still be attempting to bring down our flag, which is flying high.

What if they refuse to mail to your location (and keep your money). I think then you have earned the right to pirate their product

You're tap dancing again, justifying your (or others) actions in their own minds.

Look, I was torched by pirates who felt "I wouldn't buy it anyhow, therefore, the author deserves nothing from me." The simple fact remained that the cracked copies destroyed my small business. There is no argument about it.

Stealing software and DVD's is soooo easy. It's tempting. But I am sorry, it is wrong. It is and will forever remain stealing, regardless of the mental gymnastics.

I am not a thief.

The answer is simple... be honorable, and don't download stolen/cracked/pirated software.
