Besides nominal GDP, exports, forex reserves don't matter to them. What matters are Cement consumption, electricity consumption and some happiness index.

Why you Pakistanis are so concerned about whether BD will become Indian puppet or not? This is a common topic among Pakistani regarding BD.Pakistan's raison-d'etre is to oppose India at any cost.Plus you have big territorial issue(Kashmir) with India which remain unsettled.So you are deadlock with fight with India.Why do you expect Bangladesh or any other muslim country will see India through the Pakistani lens? So what?
BD has an outlet via the sea. India has little that it can do to force BD to do what it does not perceive to be in it's interest. Look at how India is desperate to compete with Chinese investments that it is throwing 4.5 US billion dollars of low-interest loans at BD, which is in addition to the 3 billion dollars it has already dispensed.

BD sees no need to antagonize India while it builds up it's economic and military muscle. Just because BD sees it advantageous to co-operate with India does not mean it is a puppet.

If you are talking about India-Bangladesh border trade/market access then this advantage is actually 50-50.Half of this border is situated with north eastern Indian states where Bangladesh have more advantage doing trade than almost detached mainland India.

I'm comparing BD with Taiwan because BD is headed in the same direction ie: a manufacturing based economy.

Yes Taiwan did receive significant resources from US but BD is not internationally isolated like Taiwan, they can make up for resources with international trade.

Just for some extra knowledge, what is the population distribution in BD? Is the pop. clustered around Dhakka or spread out?

Like the pattern in Thailand or other recently developing economies, population is clustered around Dhaka, which is the largest city. Dhaka has 16 Million people or roughly a tenth of Bangladesh entire population. Main cluster of industrial activity is also centered around Dhaka, as are the banks and auxiliary suppliers to trade.

That being said, there is intense activity of late developing SEZ's around the country, mostly in various coastal areas close to the two existing ports and two planned ports.....this will decentralize industry in rapid fashion away from Dhaka.

The logistics and cargo links have also developed, which are linking Dhaka with ports using river and rail container links, as well as road links.

In Global Peace Index , Security Index , Homocide Index you are above Turkey and Russia does that mean you are better than them in any way ? A country like Bangladesh whose influence ends at its borders will likely remain more peaceful than Countries like America , Russia , India , China , Pakistan , Israel , Turkey (Countries with Geopolitical Influence around the world ) .

Bengali's want to have the attention of the world but they are not getting it . If you want to look at Bengali psyche look no further than how Bengali Cricketers react when they win a match . Bangladesh and Bengali's see themselves as underachievers in real life when compared to India or Pakistan .
