What's going on in Shawal? Any updates guys?

We have been expecting this to be the toughest battle of Zarb e Azb similar to what we encountered in Tirah. And some very credible contacts did inform that the talibs were planning to hold the ground in Shawal and fight it to the end. So has the operation been limited to aerial bombardments yet although formal land offensive did start some weeks back

It looks the emphasis is on combing Khyber Agency before going into Shawal.

Things seem to be on hold for now, while siege is placed.

The cold weather will soften up the Tali-Bitches.

Those are IR armbands used to IFF while using FLIR or NV.
They look like this in NV and FLIR:

The Coalition used these things back in 2003 in Iraq to IFF using FLIR/NV rather than having to radio another country's HQ and confirm they're friendly since too many trigger happy yanks started to Friendly fire their allies.
But now they use these IR Strobes on all their vehicles and infantry helmets rather than ruining the camouflage and painting a bright orange patch on it.
