Basant celebrated in Rawalpindi

Partly because I still don't know how to fly a kite ! :ashamed:
we are the same it seems :P i can not fly nor would i want to it is torture on the fingers :P
What do you say @Gufi ?
Basant is the root cause of all evil in this world :coffee::crazy_pilot:
Khair maybe having designated areas where there are wide open spaces so that no one ends up with a slit throat or a power outage, could be a good alternative to a ban.
Well that would need brains and it is something we can not expect... I actually think a part of the inner city should be a basant zone and people should be aware of the zone so they are careful

Here is an excerpt from an advocate demanding ban on basant during a court proceeding back in 2005
"In 2005, an advocate MD Tahir of Lahore High Court, Pakistan, contended that Basant was purely an event of Hindu community who observed it as part of their religious rituals. He said that forefathers of Pakistani Muslims had never taken part in Basant celebrations. But the main issue for them is something as simple as kite flying being a danger to the ideology of this country
Well I cannot understand, are Hindus forcing anybody to celebrate Basant or kite flying or any other festival like Holi,Diwali In Pakistan. Are Hindus providing them kites or strings(dorri). Why this Hindu obsession

Ganjay ne Lahore main band karwa di, aur pindi main start karwa di
Not the ganjas but the strings which killed alot of innocent kids.

I thought Basant was more of a Hindu/Sikh Punjabi festival. Are these muslims in Pakistan celebrating this? And if yes, does celebrating a non-muslim festival make them kafir?

Basant Kite Festival (Punjab) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
We do not celebrate it as a religious festival. For us it was just kite flying day. And no it does not make us kafir.

Just don't share these pics

BC my blood boils when I come to know that people in other places like Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Pindi were able to celebrate Basant, while we in Lahore have been banned from this.
Same here

I too hate Sharifs here and called them Ganjaz too on this sewer offence towards old Lahoris:angry:
I hate them on other issue but here it was the "dooor"

I am aware of that and surely entertainment is not important than lives of people, but banning (in easy words Hud Harrami) is not solution of problems.

True but during this ban Govt. lifted this ban for two three days to check compliance with the "door" policy. However, it is the gudi baz Lahoriyas who violated that ban so govt. reimposed the basant ban

I wasn't aware of lifted ban, if govt. really gave chance than those ch**as really deserve this ban.

Driving is a productive activity. People don't usually drive for fun, but drive to work.

A work can be fun and productive at the same time. Life becomes colorful if they remain side by side.

'Door' is one aspect of solution. Is there any list of safety measures govt take to have a safe Basant. Apni jaan churaane ke liay? they lifted the ban and reimposed to make their account clear.

There're professional safety engineers, call their meeting and see if it's impossible to have a festival.

Hmm interesting. In Basant in India, we do pujas (plus kite flying) and it is a religious festival mostly to do with Sikhs and Hindus. Looks like you guys celebrate it differently in Pakistan, under the guise of same name.

It's celebrated to welcome spring, now keep your bharat out of this thread.

We celebrate it to welcome spring, in a way we praise to God for giving us this wonderful weather. It's also a form of 'puja' or 'ibadat'. But we don't bother to go in that much detail.

One thing i want to add, banning such things without proper solution we're encouraging people to use proxies that isn't healthy habbit.
