Barkha Dutt slams Arnab Goswami, says 'ashamed to be from same industry as him'

.
it does not matter what you are born with, but what you identify as ...

What are you babbling about now?

I was a big admirer of Arnab Goswami for a number of reasons. Firstly, he was an Assamese; so I always had a soft corner for him, there are so few Assamese doing well at the national stage. Secondly during the UPA period he was the only one who was not a part of the Delhi media circle and therefore appeared somewhat neutral. He made a conscious decision to move out of that circle and made his TV station the most watched English news channel in the country. He created a format that I call news-drama. It is neither news nor a debate. It's basically an evening drama based on current affairs; a reality show of sorts. The format was not for me and I couldn't watch it more than 5-10 mins but I admired him nonetheless. OTOH I have posted my negative views of Barkha Dutt quite a few times on this forum. One just needs to use the search function. And I have not changed them. But Arnab's degradation in the last few months has been extremely disturbing. He is now basically following the fox news model. I was watching Fox news the other day to see what they were saying about the DNC, it is funny that they had to point out that there weren't many American flags in the arena, basically insinuating that democrats were not true Americans or they were unpatriotic. Coincidentally Fox news is also the most watched news channel in the US. Arnab is following the same model. He knows that people may eventually grow out of his cacophony, so he is now trying to build a permanent viewer base on the far right and it's working like a charm. People who used to call him a clown, presstitute etc on this very forum are now his ardent supporters ever since he started issuing anti-national fatwas.

But what I found funny was he never named Barkha Dutt for her to take offence.

That is actually very cowardly from Arnab. Everyone knows who he is targeting, so why wouldn't he name them? If you watched Jon Stewart, you would know that he regularly targeted news media (mainly Fox) and he would name them and point out specifics. If you are going to target someone that's how it should be done. Then the other person has a chance to respond to those allegations. Arnab OTOH has relied on hysteria and right wing trolls to do his bidding. If he wanted to call someone anti-national, he should have been specific, with proper examples. Plausible deniability?

I shall give myself the pleasure of answering this.

It's the hatred.
It's always the hatred that makes even the most knowledgeable people look like idiots.

Yes, you are right. It is the hatred. You are also wrong. It was never personal.

It is hatred of cant and hypocrisy, of the sorts of people who try to cover up the rate of female molestation and mouth platitudes about how Indian culture is superior. The hypocrisy of religious charlatans of all religions, ALL without exception, who preach morality and practice the most immoral behaviour wherever and whenever they think they can get away with it. Hatred of unthinking and knee-jerk reactions to godmen and supposed religious women, which leads to adulation of criminals like Asaram Bapu and confidence tricksters like Sri Sri, or of putrid scum like that arch-priest of hatred who has the audacity to promote his vile doctrines through a channel he calls the Peace Channel, or of evangelists who gather thousands and take contributions in the lakhs, most of which vanishes into their insatiable private accounts.

Of course it is hatred. It is hatred of a section of the envious and the wanna-bes, the ones who were excluded from power by a group that elected their own relatives to power for decades and wore their legacy thin to the point of transparency, and were so corrupt that an exasperated population lost its mind and elected these vicious small-time hoods and protection racketeers instead, and led to the free run of bigots of every description, from those who prevented the nourishment of children at their most sensitive years to those who had budgets for cow protection but nothing for the upliftment of the most neglected parts of society. It led to the killings of people, because they had killed animals held sacred. And most of all, it led to the defiance of the rule of law, and to the injection of the rule of the brutal and violent majority, meaning not the mass of people, but those who were rabid enough to hurt others because those others violated their prejudices.

We gave ourselves a constitution. It is that constitution that makes us a nation, and nothing else. And it is that constitution that is violated every day, every hour by the mountebanks that you worship. And you have the audacity, the temerity to call these swines 'national', because they mouth a song that others cannot digest, because they now offer a sanctimonious salute to a flag that they dishonoured for the better part of the country's existence, because they pretend to work for the common good, while bringing in measure after measure that benefits the super-rich, and conniving in the full glare of public visibility at hurting those who speak their voices and their minds against these rulers and their rule. You call their opponents anti-national because they oppose them, and ignore, wilfully, criminally every sign that these opponents uphold the rule of law, that they uphold the betterment of the poorest of the poor, that they uphold free speech, that they uphold a united India in a battle against India's most bitter enemies, poverty and malnourishment, what the Chinese riffraff on this forum delight in calling our starvation deaths.

And while you are doing that, and telling everybody else how superior we are and our present government is, it is your voices that are absent whenever someone else raises a hollow argument against India and Indians. You are never, ever to be found contesting the false news and information that is put out about us; you prefer the sneer, the insult, the insinuation, the personal attack, the self-glorification based on nothing but your personal opinion and your personal pet peeve of the moment. Nothing on military matters either; that this is a defence forum doesn't matter a flying **** to you swines, because you are here only for the enmity, only for the chance of saying in the safety of an anonymous Internet forum all that you failed to show in your real lives.

You are paper tigers. And that may be a gross exaggeration. You are paper jackals.

The "intellectual" section has not been able to digest the rise of Modi & BJP. Oh, they pretend it's not personal. We know the truth though.

You know the truth? How would you know it? Do you judge it by the posts you read? Or do you have an ancient Vedic skill of reading the person's mind just by reading his words? Have you ever sat down and put down your thoughts in logical, ordered fashion? Have you not, each and everyone of you, fled from a detailed discussion when you ran out of arguments and found yourself resorting to insult and ad hominem attacks?

Even the fact that you found it necessary to use the word intellectual, and that you also needed at the same time to put it in quotation marks speaks volumes. You know that your arguments have no intellectual validity. Knowing that, the only weak defence that you can make against it is to pretend that what you see as intellectual, and call intellectual, is actually nothing of the kind; that it is actually a flimsy and primitive cover for something less creditable, something that you cannot actually articulate, but that you will explain and define later.

You know nothing.

Anyone remember the fear psychosis this section tried to spread about Modi coming to power and how he would destroy everything...blah blah blah..

Fear psychosis? What else have we seen but rampant destruction? Oh, but you have a detailed explanation later; let us come to that.

Now that it has not happened and along with it the RW increasing it's presence is something these fellas can digest.

That's why it's important to challenge them with facts.

Wonderful. Let us see the facts.

Finance: Inflation way down from Congee levels. Every indicator is positive

The sharp drop in oil prices is, of course, due to Chhappanincheshwar personally digging out more oil than ever before and bestowing it in large double-handfuls to a grateful world.

And let us not forget, the financials have nothing to do with the Reserve Bank, whose Governor has been successfully driven out by one of your most rabid demagogues, the kind of scum who was opposing your group tooth and nail barely a decade ago, and is now spreading his bile and toxin from safely within your ranks.

What a collection of those consumed by their own integrity, and how proud you must feel about them. And about the improvement in our economy, where manufacturing has dropped, where agriculture is in the doldrums and farmers have been killing themselves by the score, where exploitative evisceration of the ecology that our children will inherit has been stopped by the people rising against your deal-makers, where everything has failed, but like Bartok's Miraculous Mandarin, the economy just does better. All because your idiots are in power.

Defence: Anyone with even single brain cell would know what was done in last 2 years

I don't have a single brain cell, by your definition. What exactly has improved? Let me check.

In the Army, has the Army's resistance to indigenous technology been overcome and has there been a halt put to the imports lobby?
  1. Is the Arjuna MBT accepted, and in mass production, and mass deployment?
  2. Do we have guns in the numbers that we need, and do we have ammunition for these guns? Can we fight a war for a month? Forget about years. Just one month?
  3. Do we have any attention paid to Sundarji's efforts at putting the Army onto a progressive organisation? Has your monkey the time or the attention span to think about what RAPID implies, and requires, and what Holding Corps needs?
  4. Do we have any kind of doctrinal incorporation of additional air power at the formation level? Do we know what we are going to do about attack helicopters bought at a huge price from the US? What is the relationship between the Apache and the indigenous attack helicopter going to be? What is our policy about air support for our Mountain Divisions (not yet raised) given that MANPADs will knock down any manned aircraft that come within range?
  5. Oh, what happened to the Mountain Divisions, btw?
  6. What happened to the Henderson Brooks-Bhagat report, and what have we done about it? Is it still a secret because Congress reputations will be hurt, or is it just that the Defence Minister is too stupid and too cursorily in charge to have even known about it?
  7. Do we have any answer, any strategy to put up against the PLA promise to concentrate a regiment at any location within a week, a Brigade and a Division similarly within time bound limits? Do we have either the Army's consent to development in the critical border areas, or their inputs on how exactly they will fend off a future attack? Considering that the PLA operates on internal lines of defence (ask someone what this means), how do we intend to withstand the full force of their weight on a point of the frontier of their choosing?
  8. Can we even handle the Pakistanis? While our Defence Minister plays his little self-glorifying (nice word, that; must remember to keep using it) games, those little squirts are building tanks, building aircraft, building self-propelled artillery at a rate that none of our defence establishments can match, and we have nothing in place to match them, forget about equalling their rate of production.
  9. When do we get to hear that we can build our own tank and armoured personnel carrier engines?
  10. Maybe that is too advanced. Can we clothe our soldiers in bullet-proof equipment, or is that for implementation after 2019? But according to you, our defence has improved magically.
What about the Air Force? Are we doing well there? Now that St. Anthony, that lame-brain and dupe of every agent's canards in the newspapers, has gone, are we zooming ahead?
  1. Where is the Rafale deal?
  2. Why do we hear confusing and contradictory information about our dashing off in every direction simultaneously, of the Rafale, of increased purchases of the SU 30 MKI, of a possible US purchase to mollify their hurt feelings, of more effort in the Tejas project, of numbers and variations and acronyms being slung around but no aircraft on the ground in deployment?
  3. Where is the Tejas going? Or is that classified information?
  4. How will the ludicrously low range of the Tejas be rectified?
  5. What is happening to the upgrade? Where is the engine?
  6. What will we do about the dismal performance of the naval MiG 29?
  7. Do we have the capacity to build a plane, any plane, in the numbers that we need? What happened to linking up with the best private sector organisations for this to be done?
  8. Why is there no movement to induct the Dhruv, the armed version of the Dhruv or the attack helicopter into our mountain formations, when the whole purpose of the Dhruv engine choice was to make this possible?
  9. What do we plan to do about the indigenous AWACS?
  10. What is the progress on integration of the AWACS aircraft that we have already bought?
Or is it the Navy that is giving you a rush of morale to the intellect? Obviously talking of rushes of blood to the head is ruled out; that might sound offensive. So since you really, really want to be counted among the intellectuals, without the quote marks, let us play along with you.
  1. We do not have either an effective aircraft carrier policy or the production capacity to make our own. Any news from Mr. Parrikar?
  2. We do not know what escort carriers are, what helicopter carriers are. We have no plans for them and we are sitting on one single, solitary amphibious warfare vehicle. What do we plan to do about it? Make it hatch eggs? Make it breed babies, LSTs maybe?
  3. There is no policy for carrier task forces. We have a handful of destroyers, a handful of frigates, no carriers in operation and the PLAN is rotating its hips in the Bab el Mandeb, but to bhakts, Aal is well.
  4. We are losing the edge - have lost the edge - in submarine forces, there is no planning for strategic use of nuclear submarines, beyond the interminable building of the Akula, BUT no worries, the Sanghi will find an answer.
  5. Can we make our own engines? Our own electronic warfare equipment? Our own weaponry, other than the Brahmos?
  6. We have no coastal defence worth the name. If Hafeez Saeed wanted to repeat Mumbai, is there anything that we can do to stop him? A single measure that is over and above what existed then?
  7. Is there any policy regarding the policing of our marine districts?
  8. Is there any control over the smugglers in the Sundarbans or the illegal fishing of trawler owners on the India-Sri Lanka maritime border?
  9. Do we have any idea of what is going on in Indian waters as far as poaching is concerned, or will we let the factory ships completely denude our ocean resources before we wake up?
  10. Do we have a policy about the South China Seas imbroglio, or are we going to leave it to the Chinese to tell us firmly what we may and what we may not do?
External affairs: Again, some of the best 2 years in our history.

Of course.

He's got his visa.

Energy: First time since independence with surplus electricity.

Even a total twat will tell you how long electricity projects take to build.

Infrastructure: More Highways built in last 2 years than probably 10 years before that

Typical Sanghi dim-wittedness. What is the point of building highways that increase the accident rate? If you want to brag about it, talk about highway engineering that reduces the fatality rate and that combines the need to improve road communications with the need to avoid smashing more people to death than other countries lose in wars.

Home: Decisive when it comes to security. After a long time Pakistan is afraid to have their monthly cross border target practise on Indians

Perhaps the most nauseating of a long list of weedware.

Home consists of law and order within the country, not defence of the borders. Do you seriously expect a rebuttal of this, after you have demonstrated the most horrible lack of understanding of what the Home Ministry does?

Even retards can see the work.

Bad English. ONLY retards can see the work.

Since these "intellectuals" can't, then it's not their knowledge that is the issue. It's their personal bias and deep rooted hatred. These fellows are seething in anger at the rise of BJP & RSS.

I told you in detail why you are looking at illusions. It is for you to come to your senses or to defend the indefensible.

They keep asking themselves..."How dare they come to power?"

In a democracy, anybody can come to power. What is important, something that you have not realised and probably do not wish to realise, is what a party does with that power. Both Mayawati and Mulayam Singh Yadav came to power. Both made a hash of it, and created anarchy. Both Jayalalitha and Karunanidhi came to power. Nobody will name them as examples of integrity. But they got things done. Tamil Nadu does not suffer from the raw brutality of the life of the citizen in UP, or in MP, Rajasthan or Haryana.

For them, this fact is indigestible and therein lies the root cause of their bigotry, hatred and racist taunts towards Hindutva.

What bigotry are you talking about? Does a refusal to hold one religion above others count as bigotry in your book? Are you totally perverted?

What hatred is in your mind? Hatred of the flouting of the rule of law? That is a bad thing to you? Hatred of mobocracy? That is bad? Hatred of hate-spouting Sadhus and Sadhvis, and Maulvis, and padres? That is bad?

And as for racism, what do you have in mind that you have not initiated yourselves, and polished and modified to new heights?

These people are wolves in sheep clothing. Pretend to be all mellow but they are in fact the most racist & bigoted people in the world.

That would be a telling argument, if there was a pennyworth of substance to back it. You have nothing concrete to say either about racism or about bigotry, except to use the words back, in a laughable and childish effort to even things up by reversing the accusations against you.

I have said before, and I had for that reason put you on my ignore list, you are one of the two most ignorant Indian members of this forum. This last post confirms it; the other chap is a pale shadow next to you.

It is to be hoped that you will find something constructive and useful to do, besides putting out such awful rubbish on a defence forum to which you have contributed and continue to contribute precious little.

I'm ashamed to be from the same gender as barkha

Please feel free to select some other.

Well well, I thought you did not want to debate me anymore!

I wanted to comment on the crap you have posted but I realized that you will not change. You are a lost cause Joe. I have nothing but pity for you.
I genuinely envy your knowledge but what a waste. Carry on with your lies and bigoted & racist posts.

One thing though, the rant about bad English. Yes, I concede you can articulate much better.

Now wipe the froth from the sides of your mouth ;)

I agree cent percent with you. And for those of us living here and watching daily, its been a lot longer than just the last few months. One advantage, possibly the only one, of Barkha's show, which makes it palatable to endure her, is that one can actually listen to the arguments being made, digest each, and not cringe at the way we speak over each other as a people. Especially when we invite foreign guests. I do not consider Pakistanis as foreign guests, just to clarify.

Arnab simply follow what is popular, i don't share the views of him being an ultra nationalist. IF popular opinion goes a certain way, he will be there...

It depends on what you define as 'nationalist' view. There is a bare-faced attempt by religious right-wingers who inherit the contemptible neutrality of their intellectual ancestors during the freedom struggle to now represent themselves as nationalists, when they are nothing but Hindu bigots bent on dividing the country. They are not 'nationalist', they are anti-national. And Arnab and his brand of McCarthyism is not nationalism either.

What I have come to consider as best practice, partly based on feedback criticising some of my ratings, is that it is best not given during a conversation in which one is involved. I have now started reporting all comments directed at me, and not rating that post.

It is to be given on some grossly outrageous comment, either an insult to a country, a race or a religion, or a caste, or a gender or any other group of humans in general, or an insult to an individual not a member of the forum which goes beyond criticism of policies or views to a personal level. I have in the past also given it for a huge and seemingly deliberate mis-statement of a factual position, although if that had been a uniform reason, then thousands of Pakistani, Chinese, Bangladeshi and Indian posts might be affected.

These are my own interpretation of best practices, and I have seen some very different negative ratings given, mainly by two Pakistani moderators, which do not match these criteria.

Some of my own older ratings don't match these criteria. This is what I intend to practise going forward, and have been doing in the very recent past.
Sir with al due respect, I am not habitual to intellectualise such debate to paint everything in grey whereas in reality credentials of both can be judged by their actions in public..... The very intrinsic nature of journalism is to remain unbiased & put forth the factual version to the audience to form the opinion to ensure the all the laid values of democratic republic are preserved at any cost.
But there is a big but here especially in the context of Indian news media which has inseparable & overt association with leftist ideology.... They are not interested to play the vital role of the fourth column of democratic set up however they consider propagating certain ideology (left or right leaning) as a holiest job...

Now in this case, to judge their credential what we have to do is, simply check the content which they present to their respective audiences ..... There is always a Lakshman Rekha which should not be crossed even though you are a critique to certain ideology/version or against the sentiments of majority of ppl & these critical opinion or twisted facts should not stems from hate which they are known to peddle over the years....

Arnab did not create the JNU controversy

IN that event ; the liberal media was talking of Freedom of expression and treating those
JNU rouges with Kid Gloves

It was Arnab who demolished them SIngle handed ly

And he was right too ; you must have heard the slogans

The majority of the Indian public opinion was stunned by the slogans

Since then he has Not looked back ; and now 5 months later we have this Kashmir situation

Why cant the so called liberal media --headed by Barkha dutt call Burhan Wani a TERRORIST

Why is it so difficult ; because her sympathies lies with India's enemies
