What's new

Bangladesh's per capita income rises to $2,227

.
Yes BD is doing fairly well but it is still a poor country.

Need to keep the momentum of 7%+ growth till 2035 in order to leave the 3rd world behind and become a "middle-income" country.

So far so good but much more needs to be done and so like the Chinese, best to keep your head down and keep working hard and smart.

@F-6 enthusiast watch how both the pajeets returned to shakha to avoid answering post #30. They are the most dishonest creatures a normal human will ever meet.
one of them keeps calling anyone he doesn't like jamati which is kind of funny given that they are just as irrelevant in bd politics as the communist party is in bd. no longer a relevant political force in bd maybe in 2012-13/14 but not in 2021

modi gov used PPP to defend their slump in gdp per capita. but what does that show when a country (like India) that had 24 year lead in development and an even bigger lead in industry falls behind in many social and economic factors? Mismanagement of resources.

Jamati economics for you

One cannot escape the irony that some Indians now have to resort to comparing their economy to Bangladesh' two-bit tiny economy as a last resort, when they really should be comparing themselves to China. That would require some soul-searching.

It is a rather sad commentary - don't you think?

when,
  • Indians are dying and being floated downriver for want of "Chita" funeral wood. Dead bodies are turning up thousands of miles downstream.
  • Indians are planning to deploy flesh eating turtles to get rid of bodies in the Ganges.
  • Indians are suffocating and dying on sidewalks after using 3-wheelers as ambulances. I have seen videos on this.
  • Richer Indians and intellectuals cannot be saved either (no amount of money can buy oxygen or treatment), it is a horrific situation even in larger cities, out of control. We have friends in India, we know through personal accounts.
  • Indians are dying in hospitals because they cannot get Oxygen which India cannot produce (neither concentrators, nor the Oxygen itself).
  • Modi govt. is totally incapable of controlling the situation, it is apparent that they had no concrete plan either. On top of it Modi encouraged rallies, gatherings and made super-spreader situation far worse.
  • How irresponsible can a leader like Modi get? More importantly, how can gullible Indians keep voting this incompetent person to power, repeatedly? Do they have no sense?
I think this realization that certain things have to occur (like good governance/planning and raising standards of living for Aam Janta - yes, compared to even Bangladesh whose HDI in many areas are better than India with far smaller funding outlay) has to come sooner or later before declaring India a superpower.

How long can India as an entity go on ignoring these basic civic needs by its govt., which is now the laughing stock of the world? Should Modi have some shame?

Should Indians try to convince the whole world by propaganda and try to muzzle the foreign press like you do at home in India - that India is doing great and is a super-power comparable to China?

If these realizations never come to Indians of any stripe, then maybe it is time to write off India as a sham democracy and a failed state already.

Why do you say India has only a 24-year lead over BD when India has more than a 100-year lead? India's development was initiated during the British time.

Similarly, BD's development also started after 1947 when this country had only one factory, Mohini Mills in Kushtia. And virtually there were no bridges, except Hardinge Bridge, or Pakka roads in 1947. Most of what we see today was built before 1971.

1947 and 1971 should not be cited as the yardstick for development. These two years are related to the politics of the region and not to the economic development.

You seemed to have me confused with Chinese folks here

I am more of stats guy over pics of propaganda value

What Chinese do is not all propaganda.

I have been to Shenzhen, Shanghai and Beijing.

I suggest you take a trip someday and see for yourself what China is now, and how it got there.

That lesson will benefit Indians more than fighting in PDF.

you are right about this one , Brits left their infrastructure which at the time , was better than China.

unfortunately there is no quick easy way to develop industries unless one wants to follow the soviet model of industrialisation that went from agrarian peasant society to sending a man in space in the time frame of 40 years. It achieved in decades what western countries achieved in centuries but at great human cost.

Why are you whining about all this to me?

Its your Jamati cheerleader who begged for masochistic zakat from me

After boasting about slums to PPP being irrelevant and the other day mocking other nations for being third world, irony much

I have no reasons to compare Indian economy with Bangladesh's or any other for that matter

BD economy progressing is of benefit to India

Giving zakaat to the pajeets is like giving a pen to a bonobo lol

Your zakaat is better spent on intellectually-abled humans who are actually capable to change their lives.

For those of you in the US, I suggest give your Zakaat to this guy - Sal Khan. He is single-handedly trying to educate the whole world. I am proud of him as a Bangladeshi. Kudos!

Zakaat does not have to be to religious organization only.

Perfect bhakt response.

India will become superpower by culling the poor.

Yes, you are right to say industrialization takes a very very long time. In all countries, industrialization has preceded economic development. It is because industries produce employment and national wealth.

However, our people here think a few bright buildings in a city is the yardstick for development. They usually send these photographs to hoodwink others that Bd is fast developing. I wonder why do they think so when even a simple infrastructure like supplying clean water to its citizens has not been built or renovated.

Why the hesitation to answer post #30 Pajeet? Basically no matter what you will not acknowledge you are poorer. You slum dwellers live on your tiny little mental cocoons refusing to see reality,

Anyways your acknowledgement matters little. I care about the tangible. An electrified fence and shoot-on-sight at the border for any trespassing poor Pajeet needs to be implemented asap.
